Aislynn has lived too long in a world that ended a thousand years ago. As an immortal, she has endured the death of magic, the fall of empires, and centuries of unrelenting grief. Now she seeks the one mercy she’s never known—true oblivion. The relic she hunts will end all of existence, erasing every wound the universe has ever suffered, but the last wizard has other plans.

Undead and cunning, he wove a prophecy around Aislynn’s journey and has waited a millennium for its fulfillment. He doesn’t want to stop her—he needs her to succeed. Not to destroy everything, but to spark a cosmic rebirth: a new world rising from the ashes of the old.

Then Aislynn meets Wraith, a forsaken hunter marked by strange pale eyes and even stranger power. Their bond, unexpected and undeniable, challenges everything she thought she knew. For the first time in centuries, Aislynn hesitates. For the first time ever, Wraith believes.

As prophecy tightens its grip, three fates collide: a weary immortal craving an end, a lich trapped by what was and what could be, and a hunter who might forge a third path.

In a universe caught between death and resurrection, in the space between an ending and a beginning, the greatest magic may be knowing when to let go—and when to hold on.

Every path you take has a purpose and an outcome. A well thought out timeline. The author doesn't miss. You are taken on a quest of epic proportions. While our FMC is trying to destroy the last remaining pieces of magic, the author takes you on a journey that you won't soon forget. The world-building is top tier. You can see everything he is trying to show you.

As you gather your pieces, you are thrown into battles that leave you breathless. When the Fates are introduced throughout, you are left wondering (definitely need the next book) as to what is to come. The twists and turns were spread out masterfully. Never a dull moment.

I want more. I want to know what happens. If you want an Epic Fantasy with quests of yore ... grab this for your next read. I would highly recommend it.

This is a solid story that abandons most of the re-used tropes in fantasy tales to forge new alliances amongst characters with quite different abilities and backgrounds. We have a lost soul trying to find his way, and an ancient soul that unlocks a guiding light. There are fights and plots and subterfuge and mishaps all along the adventure. The dialogue is natural-sounding and often dripping with welcome sarcasm or humor, and the pacing is appreciably on-point for the first 7/8ths of the book's length. Tim Wilbur performs admirably as narrator while presenting the character voices and storyline descriptions of the author, Tim Wilbur. The groundwork is set for Book 2, but I can't even fathom what direction it might take. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.0x.]

I enjoyed how the characters all were well thought out and didn't blend into the scenery. The FMC (Aslan) and the MMC (Wraith) were interesting and engaging. I really enjoyed how the ending brought things together and made you feel like so much more is to come.

A Gritty Fantasy Epiflc
