Publisher's summary

He has to rule a Shifter Kingdom he doesn't want. She has to break all the rules to protect her unborn baby. After one passionate night, will Fate bring them back together?

Korrin just wanted to drink whiskey and get away from his family. He didn't want the prestige of being the Romani Traveler King's son, to say nothing of the responsibility. But where there is power, there are people willing to go anything to keep (or steal) it. And soon he wouldn't have any choice in the matter....

Kris couldn't believe she had a one night stand with the tall, dark, and handsome guy with those gorgeous golden eyes. They couldn't have really been golden, right? No matter that now, all that mattered was the tiny life she was now carrying, and how that would turn her world upside down.

She had no idea how right she was.

This full length bear shifter paranormal romance novel has all the action, steam, and true love that only a Fated Mates story can deliver! I've included some other stories as my thanks to you.

A Shifter Bear Story

This was my first Becca Fanning's book and my first shifter bears story. I like paranormal story! This is the first book in this triology available in audiobook for now. This Serie has also a book 0. This story is very entertaining and fast pace. I love the two main characters, Korrin and Kris. Korrin is an alpha man/bear, devoted to his clan. Kris is a really strong and very supportive woman. The two of them will do everything to help whom they love. Their story continues in books 2 and 3. Addison Spear did a really great narration. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Ok book

I struggled to finish this book. The storyline was good but the characters needed more depth. The hero acted like a spoiled child.

Korrin and Kris

This book is different from most shifter stories I have read or listened to because there is no talk of "fated mates" it seems that in this world the shifters fall in love or not just like humans.

This is a good story, the first in a three book series. This is a fantastic start to what I hope is going to be a fantastic series. Korrin is a bear shifter and second in line to the throne, he has no expectation of ever having to sit on it because he has an older brother who's job that will be. Unfortunately for him, on the eve of his brother taking the throne he is murdered and it becomes apparent that someone is out to kill everyone connected to the throne. Korrin is now next in line but there is someone he wants to protect. One night not too long ago he had a one night stand with Kris and he feels she will now be in danger so he sets off with his cousin to find her.

Kris does not remember Korrin's name all she knows is that she is pregnant, she has no way to find the father of her baby but she needn't have worried because Korrin finds her, he has to come and get her when she becomes the target of assassins. At first Kris thinks the ones attempting to take her life are Korrin and his cousin but as they are then attacked she begins to see that he has indeed come to save her. There is just one problem with this, he is a bear shifter and he doesn't know he's about to become a father! He takes her to his home thinking that will keep her safe but who are the real villains and who can he trust?

There are some very interesting characters in the story who I am sure will make an appearance in the next book. There are also lots of things going on, who is Korrin's true enemy and will he choose to break tradition? Korrin's world is lead by old traditions and does not have any modern conveniences like phones or electricity.

This is a well written fast paced story and I am looking forward to listening to the next part, the narration by Addison Spear is excellent she gives every character an individual inflection which greatly added to my enjoyment of the book.

Good Listen

Kris is a college student that had one wild night that has become life changing. She is now being hunted because of that one night. She is rescued but ends up in the middle of the mess. This was a good story that involves romance and betrayal. Great Narration. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

not my cup of tea

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Unlike some of the other stories I've tried to get through in the Bear Shifter books, this one had a bit more actual story. That being said, it still follows the typical, romance-driven, story tropes, and is far more focused on the sex and relationships than it does on the paranormal aspects of the world. At this point, I'm not sure why I went for another book in this universe, but that's on me. This is solely my preference, so if you like the more romance-driven stories like this, you'll probably enjoy it.

could have been

This could have been such a great story, with a unique setting and interesting situations, but... Korrin doesn't come across as an Alpha shifter of royal blood and Kris, a human, is too much and at every turn she behaves out of character, maybe because she is thrown into an unbelievable world? I had a hard time connecting to them and believing their connection. The plot was good with interesting turns that I didn't expect especially the cousin's treachery. It ends well with a hint at HEA.
The narrator does a decent job, but sounds rushed at times and lacks in variations for the various characters and no males voices.

Bear Shifter Romance

Not a bad story. Fast, easy listen. Would have liked a bit more backstory in the characters, but I enjoyed the gypsy take on the story.

Slightly put off by the speed of the narrators read. Felt it was just a touch to fast. Even checked the speed on my audible app to be sure I hadn’t sped it up in error.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my unbiased review.

An interesting take...

Legacy is a unique blend of stories - there's the shifter angle, some royal/political intrigue, action, and some gypsy lore. I just had a hard time vibing with it. We don't get a whole lot of background on the characters and it sort of feels like we're thrown in middle of the story and I never felt like I could catch up to what was going on. I was able to figure out who the big baddie was fairly early on (it's a gift) which I didn't mind so much, but it did make it sort of anticlimactic when it's finally revealed. I think that the story would benefit from an additional 100-150 pages just to flesh out the characters and draw out the plot a bit. The bones were good and it has such potential, I just don't know that it was fully met. Because it is the first in a series, I might be willing to read the next book to see if it improves my opinion as a whole, but as it is I'm not chomping at the bit to continue on. 2 out of 5 wine glasses.

Good writting, great setting

I really enjoyed the world that this story is set in, the descriptions are vibrant and it's a curious mix of old and new.

The characters are well developed but their words and actions made me despair that they were ever going to do the smart thing. Korrin spent a lot of time lamenting the current situation and wishing things were different, there was very little that he did that was constructive, I wanted to feed him some common sense. Kris was doing really well in the first part of the book, she was on-track to kick arse, until she decided wondering if Korrin liked her was more important than passing on life saving information. I know it created action in the book, I prefer my action without the side serving of stupid and pointless.

There was chemistry, plot, twists and turns, and a HEA, so if that's what you're after, this story delivers, but I wasn't really a fan.

The narration is well done, the character voices are good and the delivery is smooth and natural.
