Publisher's summary

You walk into a restaurant and get an immediate sense that you should leave. You are about to step onto an elevator with a stranger, and something stops you. You interview a potential new employee who has the résumé to do the job, but something tells you not to offer the position. These scenarios all represent "left of bang", the moments before something bad happens. But how many times have you talked yourself out of leaving the restaurant, getting off the elevator, or getting over your silly "gut" feeling about someone? Is there a way not just to listen to your inner protector more but to actually increase your sensitivity to threats before they happen?

Legendary marine general James Mattis asked the same question and issued a directive to operationalize the Marine Corps' Combat Hunter program. A comprehensive and no-nonsense approach to heightening each and every one of our gifts of fear, Left of Bang is the result.

Must Read for Everyone

This is a well-written, well narrated book. Like most, I wish this concept/training was available sooner and more widely administered. Nonetheless, I am very thankful for these authors' contribution to making our warriors more aware and better equipped to operate in austere environments.

More than what I bargained for

I choose this book to improve my situational awareness and figured that what works for our Marines would be "good enough" for me. "Good enough" is a vast understatement. While the self-promotion was tiresome at best, the relevant content was truly enlightening.

Must Read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! What is taught in this book is something I use everyday now. This has helped me see things I did not see in the past.

What does Danny Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

When the author reads his own book he can emphasize with his voice what is more important than me trying to read it into the story.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Left of Bang?

Situational awareness!

Important info for everyone

the narrator took time to get into the rhythm, but a must for anyone choosing an awareness mindset.
however, if you've already had any SA training, nothing here is shocking or world changing
