Publisher's Summary

A new lease on life....

After a brush with death, Jackie Parker has big plans to lie low for a while. The best-laid plans didn't check in with her stressful job as part of Damaged Goods property management - or her drama queen mother.

When one of their clients is found brutally murdered and a recently evicted tenant is a suspect, Jackie vows to Luke and Logan that this time she'll stay out of the fray. After all, she's not a detective, and they have more than enough on their plate. A rogue RV, drug dealers, furies, snakes, and monkeys, oh my!

Plus there's a rival property-management company determined to ruin Damaged Goods, a kidnapping, and a sexy animal lover looking to cause trouble in Jackie's already rocky marriage. The Magic City's sassiest process server is sitting on a powder keg of crazy, and the two men in her life are playing with matches. One thing's for sure: As far as Jackie's concerned, this isn't a day at the beach.

Awesome mystery

The Parkers continue their property management business with the dramatic twists and turns. In this book relationships are questioned. Narrator Suzanne Cerreta does a New York and Mexican accent.

Wonderful narration

Another fun cozy mystery.
I really like the main character Jackie, the humor and writing style.
And the story behind how Jackie got her 2 pets was super fun and endearing.

That being said, there were some things that I liked less about this book.
For me there was too much drama, and I thought the ending was unsatisfying, with Jackie and Luke not talking things out or dealing with the aftermath of events that transpired. (like a Harry Potter book if Harry and Dumbledore didn’t talk everything over afterwards)

I’m now reading book 3, Cure or Die, and we finally get more insight into Jackie and Luke’s beginning relationship.
It makes things much more clearer, and I really don’t understand why such important information was pushed back to book 3.
My rating and enjoyment would have been higher if I understood their relationship before all the drama started.

Narration is truly wonderful as always.

There is a Damaged Goods – Laundry Hag crossover called ‘The Laundry Hag's Christmas Rental’. It takes place between book 2 and 3 of Damaged Goods.
You get some references of the events in Cure or Die (Damaged Goods, book 3), but I don’t quite understand why the crossover itself wasn’t included in this series.
I absolutely loved the crossover. Points of view vary between Jackie and Maggie (main character of Jennifer’s Laundry Hag series).
It’s a Christmas themed book, and it was wonderful. I enjoyed it so much!
Fast pace, fun, hart warming, and with a real Christmas themed mystery.. highly recommended!

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

I like this author and she didn't disappoint

I like the series so far. I chanced on this due to the intertwining of characters/story from another series I love (Laundry Hag), and decided to start Damaged Goods since the characters were interesting to me and wanted to know more on their backstory. The narrator is great with exception of a few places where the voice was inconsistent in tone or maybe editing, but she does the reading really well making it feel realistic. The stories actually tie out in the end, which feels somewhat rushed in the laundry series sometimes. Main character feels familiar in a she's so real to me kind of way, and this book had me laughing out loud with some of the antics in the story, but between the action, relationships, the characters and storyline, I'm hooked and looking forward to the next one. Especially since it's so rare that I find a series with a heroine that's involved in action, is funny, relatable and NOT just helpless, horny and stupid to boot.

Fun story

I found this book highly entertaining. It had humor, suspense, angst, and family drama. I stayed engaged with the story the entire time. The performance by Suzanne Ceretta was awesome. I look forward to more stories in this series. I was given a copy of this audiobook in return for my honest review

Wow. One surprise after another.

This one had my mind going all over the place. It was infuriating, sad, good... I am wrung out. I almost quit more than once, getting so mad at people’s choices. Then it all came together right at the end. If I had been reading this before book 3 came out I would have been very upset at the cliffhanger-type ending; yeah, you could stop here, but you’d never know how things progressed, and it is very much not a stopping point any reader invested in the characters can accept. For that reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Narrator still working for me. Her accents are steady, and her male and female voices work.

Love triangle

The love triangle increases. In the last book, Logan saves Jackie’s life and Luke is struggling to reconcile he wasn’t the one because he was stuck in traffic. Tension is tight between the three and Luke starts acting squirrely. Jackie with her pension to being in the wrong place at the wrong time keeps finding bodies. And can’t just let the police handle it. Between dead bodies, mom trouble, strained relation ships and possible infidelity this book will keep you’re head spinning. It’s funny, it’s a cozy mystery but there is angst and heartbreak with this this rom com and it ends in a cliffhanger that has me salivating to see what happens next. And seriously who to root for!!!!

I liked it but...

I didn't like this one as much as the first book in the series. The main character called another character the dark prince less which was a welcome change. I still cringed at the holding a breath or let a breath go lines. I really like the dynamic between the characters but I was sad this wasn't a simple murder mystery.

OMG! So good!

This book was better than the first one if that is even possible! I love the direction this series is heading in. The narrator really brings the story to life! Now onto book 3! 👍

Glad I stuck with the series

I mentioned in my last review that I had listened to the books out of order because of a cross-over with the Laundry Hag. I did not love the first book in this series partly because of the spoilers. I am glad I stuck with the series. I am still not thrilled with some of the relationships, but the book is cozy, fun, snarky, and worth the listen.

I think Suzanne Cerreta is the perfect narrator for the series.

Another great book

The sexual tension between Ace and Logan continues to sizzle in this book, while Luke continues mostly being a jerk. Great follow up to book 1.
