Excellent

A really great guide to the physiological and psychological processes happening in the brain as we learn. The Prof. Polk makes the subject matter very accessible and easy to understand too. This is an excellent reference for anyone wanting to improve their learning techniques or professionals in the teaching field who want to understand how to create more effective learning interventions for students at every level. Highly recommended!

Great listen

I listen this audiobook many years ago and have copies to share today. It is well explaining and foundational to becoming grounded in reality and changing misperceptions of one's self.

Slow, useful, unconvincing

Slow going, I listened to about half at x2.5, but then this content was not new to me. I returned it. It is a reasonable introduction, probably, but I do have a problem when a single study of undergraduate students is presented as "scientific support" for sweeping generalizations, especially when the next one is picked apart and dismissed as bad science. Seemed a little questionable at times.

A must listen

This book provides an objective perspective of exactly what happened. I don’t always agree with his perspective, but it leads me to believe that it was accurate and precise.

Incredibly interesting

Nothing better than fact based knowledge. Everyone should have access to this information. I'm going straight to this Professor's other book, "The Aging Brain".

Excellent information

This audio book was excellent. It was very educative and informative and it goes in to great, but easy to understand detail, on how the brain retains information and learns. The information is practical and useful and can help you when developing strategies in planning for studies, learning something new, etc. . Some of the information can give hope to people that thinks they are limited because they have not realize that they learn in a different way, with out regard of age or some apparent limitations. The presentation was organized, the lecturer effective, the transmission of information clear and consice. There was no waist of time. The lecturer articulate his words very clearly and at an adequate tone and rate. All those factors contribute to make this course an excellent one. This course should be the model of all the other courses. Highly recomended.

No Audio Examples

Audio is reading of the text only and contains no audio examples of music itself, played notes or instrumentation. Frequent references to 'see the diagram below' only adds to the frustration. Some basic theory info but useless as practical guide to learning or practice. Returned for a refund/credit.
