No nightmares here...

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. The stories were nicely adapted and I liked the helpful tips and explanations from the author. For each story she’d have a side note like...defining what a fairy tale ending or cliffhanger is.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by her (the author narrated her book) and I would listen to another. She did well voicing the characters and adding drama to them.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review

A Diverse Collection

This particular collection of Fairy Tales was chosen to be used a teaching tool. These stories are from various authors and provide a diverse sampling of tales. The author/ narrator developed the book as a lesson plan. With each tale, there is a commentary about literature and literary terms. In some cases, the “blurb” comes before the story to advise the learner to listen for something particular. The intended audience is children; therefore, the stories are written and told that way. Heinous actions and gore have been eliminated if those were components in the original. Regardless, the selection is interesting and can effectively be used to teach children to enjoy and understand basic aspects of literary analysis. Anna Lena Day has taken the tales of Grimm, Anderson and others, and recreated them for the target audience and added information that can be developed into a unit plan for teachers. She also narrated the stories bringing them to life. Although this was created as a learning tool, it can be enjoyed at home by parents and their children.

I was given this audiobook, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
