Beware - no pdf notes can be downloaded
I have tried many forms of learning Russian - mostly from books, without the native Russian conversational exchange. Many 'learn to speak Russian' audio components of books (if there are some), are slower than native Russian conversations, (where little differences -some colloquial slip in.)
This audiobook of 25 lessons at 'Beginner' level assumes that you have already mastered the cyrillic alphabet and some basic Russian words. It proceeds at a reasonable pace (this is subjective of course).
The best part is that you will learn how Russian is spoken by a native Russian language speaker and an American 'student' learning. Not just individual words, but day-to-day sentence length conversations from the start. Translation into English and some explanations, plus repetition at slower and then at normal speed again really help with listening out for the individual words of the sentence as Russian words can be long and it can be difficult at times to separate the elements of sentences.
What annoyed me, and something to be aware of, is that this edition from the "Innovative Language Learning" company, says that downloadable pdf notes to accompany the lessons, can be obtained from the web address given at the start. Unfortunately this just leads to a 'Sign Up' for another company who wish to extract money from you (a lot of money) for the same course as part of a longer course (Intermediate, Advanced ).
I have tried and tried to see how I could obtain the promised notes (which are essential for spelling and further lessons), but each time I am led back to the same alternative company.
If you have an iPad (unfortunately not iPod ) there are some similar audiobooks to learn Russian with the same Innovative Learning Company that has produced this - and the written notes come too.
If it were possible to obtain the pdf downloads to accompany the lessons, I would have given 5 stars.
