Amazing and Flexible way to learn French quickly!!

What did you love best about Learn French with Stories for Beginners?

This is my first experience listening to an audio book in french language and i love it!! Learning french the traditional way of being in a class is not as effective as listening to it because, there is the problem of concentration and trying to keep up with the lesson of each class, but with this audio book- Learn French with Stories for beginners, i can go at my own pace, rewind, go between chapters. It allows great flexibility as i can learn french on the go, in the kitchen, in the car or anywhere because of the different listening options using phone, tablet, notepad or my personal computer.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Learn French with Stories for Beginners?

I love the fact that there is a pause when the vocabulary are been repeated because it allows me to repeat the words to my self. It is also amazing that i can hear the correct pronunciation of the words in phrases and sentences and ultimately i can speak like a french native.

What does Frederic Bibard and Adam McVay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The patience of pronunciation, repetition and variety of stories

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!!! because i was learning and it was not boring.

Any additional comments?

This is also great for schoolchildren that have french subject in their coursework because it is easier to commit to memory, also it would be ideal for kids with reading disabilities like dyslexia or blindness. The stories are also educative and interesting.

Really recommended

Have you listened to any of Frederic Bibard and Adam McVay ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is my first time

Any additional comments?

It was long time ago when I studied french in high school, and what I remember is just a basic level.
It has been really enjoyable learning french using this method. It's easy to use and clear, you can practice the language at any moment, anywhere.. in a very funny way. That's the best!
This is the first time that I learn a language through stories!
My challenge is improve the pronuntiation, as it's really difficult for me, but the audio format helps a lot, you only have to listen and repeat words and sounds.
The recap chapters are great to test what you already heard, so it's easy to refresh the vocabulary.
With this method, you learn using real conversations, what it's actually, really helpful.
I highly recommend this audible book, great for beginners. C'est magnifique!!

Easy and effective!

Would you consider the audio edition of Learn French with Stories for Beginners to be better than the print version?

If you are a fan of immersion teaching, like I am, you will surely find this book more insightful.

What did you like best about this story?

The covered themes are day to day situations, therefore very useful. I work in the tourism industry so the chapters about travelling can help me communicate better with tourists.

Which character – as performed by Frederic Bibard and Adam McVay – was your favorite?

I can share my opinion about the narrators: I liked Frederic Bibard a bit better. The English narrator talked louder than the French one so I had to adjust to that a little bit but it wasn’t a big problem

Any additional comments?

Tips: - set the glossary speed at 1.35 or 1.50
- after you listen to the story and glossary try listening to the story again. You will find out that you already understand almost everything!

Its simple language, easy to understand and to repeat to reinforce the words and prayers in French

What did you like best about this story?

Good stories, narrated in a language suitable for beginners, very successful

Have you listened to any of Frederic Bibard and Adam McVay ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

It is really the first time that I try to learn a language through short stories, it is a different experience and an alternative to not get bored learning a new language

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Actually if I felt things, sometimes I got a lot of laughs from the stories, in others I was inspired by nostalgia or sadness, when one understands what it means in another language that is new to oneself that makes it even more exciting

Any additional comments?

"Excellent work, the French language has always fascinated me but it has made me very difficult to learn. With these short stories I have understood much better the meaning of some basic words in the language, I have learned new words, phrases and conjugations of the most common verbs. The book is designed in such a way that it can be understood by anyone regardless of who is starting their study of the language. An excellent alternative for those who can not attend classroom classes"

This is the book you were looking for French

What did you love best about Learn French with Stories for Beginners?

I think the audio was my top, because the storyteller talks in a really reasonable speed and it is so simple to hear and understand what he is saying, comparing to other french speakers or books. I loved it.

Any additional comments?

French has always been one of the most difficult languages to learn for me. It was just so hard to keep a conversation with others, and to understand it, because of the accent and how fast people speak. With this book, I fall in love with French again, it is so easy to pick up phrases, learn new vocabulary and practice your pronunciation by reading and hearing stories that makes this learning process more pleasant, less stressful and to be honest… more entertaining and meaningful for you. It starts from the very basics and essential words and phrases that you must know to communicate. What I also found helpful, was the audio from the book; it allows you to train your ear for it to process the information, to learn to identify word by word and even better to learn how to pronounce them. The stories are in a very good quality, they are short, easy to hear, fun and the speed it’s just perfect, and so are the list of words and phrases after every story with the meaning in English and the pronunciation for you to practice; which was the biggest positive.

I highly recommend the book and the audio, because it has definitely increased my understanding and my pronunciation skills. This book will be beneficial for everyone who wants to learn French. I think there are no excuses to learn and practice a new language, when you have the right book.

Very effective way to learn a language

I was surprised at how effective and enjoyable this book was. I took five years of French in grade school and only retained a little of it. When I visited France a few years ago, I was amazed at how quickly the language started coming back to me when I was immersed in it, but I needed a boost in my daily learning. The storytelling aspect of this book is a great approach to building onto whatever knowledge you already have, even if you think you don’t know very much. It really helps you to understand the language in terms of how the words relate to each other by allowing you to hear actual sentences that make sense instead of random sentences that are strange sounding or oversimplified. I love the slow down/speed up function. One of the difficulties in learning a language is that you always hear it spoken slowly in a teaching environment, so it was helpful to be able to hear something pronounced slowly and then hear the way it sounds at a speed people would actually speak it. The narration was very clear and easy to understand. I also thought that the vocabulary portion was very beneficial. I liked being able to listen to a story in its entirety and then hear the translations of the words that I didn’t catch. I think this will be a quick way for anybody to brush up on a language that’s gotten a little rusty. And the fact that it is an audiobook makes it so convenient. Within the first couple of minutes of the narrator starting, I felt like all the years of French I took suddenly came rushing back. I’ll definitely be using this on a regular basis now…I highly recommend it.
