I'm sure your first question is: Can you actually learn a foreign language while you’re asleep? Well, according to a Swiss research study in 2014, the answer is unassailably, yes! In this study, a group of German speakers was given a list of unfamiliar Dutch words to study. Half were instructed to get some sleep, while they listened to long lists of Dutch words and translations. The other half was instructed to stay awake. Four hours later, they were tested, and the group that listened while sleeping had significantly higher recall. The study concluded that people can indeed absorb new information passively during non-REM sleep - which is the deep sleep we get in the first few hours of the night.

This audiobook is divided into six chapters, each with different kinds of vocabulary, and with different music. Choose a different chapter each night, or loop the audiobook to have a continuous stream. Some listeners - those with more experience with the foreign language - have reported that these recordings allow them to dream in that language!

I have studied Chinese in the past, but this series made me feel much more confident with both speaking and listening and I wish it had existed 15 years ago when I first tried to learn Chinese. I have invested in a number of programs, applications, and private tutoring. Susanna program has been the most valuable investment yet. It brings the language to life in a way that allow you to construct new sentences as you learn more words.

The most relaxing way to learn!

This is my go to audiobook at night time and I love falling asleep to it, knowing that my brain is picking up on the Chinese language as I sleep. I love the relaxing ambient music and the narrator did a great job as well. Highly recommend!

Good to have!

This touched a variety of topics that will take someone without the knowledge of Chinese to be a fluent communicator in the language. You will be able to count your numbers, identify the different colors, listen to games, and know first, second, third, etc., positions. The author looked at east, west, downtown, and weather. The full range of kitchen products and cooking terminologies as far as table settings were also listed. Do you want to fly to China soon? Well, you can survive in China with this book because the author touched almost everything about transportation. You would learn and know a one-way ticket or roundtrip, customs, and everything from take-off to landing. Also, if you want to learn about space, the names of the galaxy are all here. He also mentioned animals' names and times too. Overall, this book is a huge resource for families and anyone that plans on having a vacation in China. I would say you go through it 1 to 2 times before you leave. I love it!

This book had a nice arrangement for learning a foreign language while relaxing or sleeping.

Love this book!

I got those books for my kids to help them learn Mandarin. This is a lovely book, so relaxing, I found this book is especially good for them to listen to during their bedtime. The wonderful music help put them in a more relaxing mood which makes learning more receptive to them. It is amazing to find that in the morning they still remember a few words from the night before. This is a wonderful way to learn Mandarin, try it!

If you are looking for an audiobook to help you learn Chinese, I highly recommend this one. The author has created a relaxing and engaging experience that will help you subconsciously learn the language while you sleep. I can’t wait to replay it over and over again!

Another gem!

I loved the iteration of this series for learning French and so was excited to see this new book come out as well. The book did not disappoint! I was definitely less familiar with Chinese from the start, but picked up some great new vocab, and it was pretty much subconscious!

Wonderful method!

Bough this as I've been planning to travel to China next year, and have a friend who recommended learning language meditation/sleep tapes. After listening to for more than two weeks after going to bed, I feel like now in my daily speech, I feel like I can incorporate general Chinese nouns/verb tenses without even realizing it. It's pretty cool, and I look forward to what more I can learn from this!

This audiobook is a great starter to begin learning the Chinese language. The narrator spoke very clearly and was easy to understand. The background music was also very relaxing. It may take me a while but I’m confident this was the first step to becoming fluent!
