Catherine Landauer spends her days grilling prosecution witnesses in zealous defense of the accused criminals she represents, but no one knows she was once the victim of a headline-grabbing crime. When the man who kidnapped her resurfaces, Catherine goes from attorney to witness, reluctant to trust anyone, especially the alluring prosecutor assigned to the case.

Veteran prosecutor Starr Rio has a reputation of doing whatever it takes to win, even if she has to skirt the edge of the law in the pursuit of justice. Now, she’s trying the case of a lifetime, saddled with an uncooperative star witness who is sexy as hell and who thinks she knows more about criminal law than the entire prosecution team.

But when Starr and Catherine give in to desire, their hearts, careers, and even their lives are on the line.

I only have one issue with this story and I blame Law and Order. Prosecutors are not investigators, not detectives, and not in the police chain of command. There would never be a case where a lawyer would be involved in chasing down leads, talking to victims families, or investigating evidence and/or crime scenes. there would have never been a reason for starr to be as involved with the investigation as she was.
Other than that it was a entertaining story with
interesting turns and emotional roller coasters.

The L&O trope

And this one was excellent. Well written, great characters, well developed. Narration was as always excellent.

I love this kind of books

It's a good book if you're looking for lesbian romance that is intertwined with crime. I like the dynamic between the two women, but if you are looking for a romance that starts early, this isn't your book. The romance is held off till the end and the story focuses on the mystery as it goes back and forth between the two women's POV.

I'll admit, I lost touch with the book for a while. I was hooked in the beginning, but lost interest and put it down for a couple months towards the middle. However, after picking it up two months later, I found myself hooked again and on the edge of my seat in the end and was satisified when it finished.

Nice change of pace

Story is ok.
But the Narrator has made it hard to keep up story line because she used the same tone and voice for all the characters! I got frustrated to listening to this since I couldn’t figure out which character is talking! The whole narrative thing was utterly annoying and all I wanted to do is stop listening. That was a complete waste of money!

Narrator problem!!!!

Wow such in depth story telling....I truly appreciate the time the author took to flesh out the main characters. Paying special attention to different facets of their lives as well. Beautiful work, not too mention the perfection in narration. Well Ms. McKinney. ❤️

Such a gripping story!!!!!
