Publisher's summary

Who are you when the teeth come out? For every true act of leadership, there is an equal and monstrous act of sabotage. Our leaders have been entirely routed by the agitated and the anxious. These emotional tyrannies manifest themselves in local libraries, HR cubicles, elder meetings, and at your Thanksgiving dinners.

In this book, Professor Joe Rigney seeks to recover the nerve of old that steadied leaders to make tough calls. The nerve that braces them when sabotage comes--because it will. The nerve that has more fun than its enemies.

Cheer up, there's no way out but through.

Solid. Practical. Call to courage.

Joe Rigney sees clearly and lives what he writes. Novelty is not his goal. I think he longs to bring clarity to a muddled culture, that has even permeated the church. I was challenged to grow in sober mindedness. I was encouraged by his call to wise action. He has courageous obedience to King Jesus. I like his doing something better than many doing nothing.

clear and concise

Appropriate for the christian leaders and those who represent Christ in the world. This are important topics for all those who believe the Bible to wrestle with.

Excellent

I hold a doctorate in leadership and I believe this book should be part of a foundational reading of every aspiring leader and father within the church. I’m not associated with CP in the slightest, probably considered a heretic, but I’ve already sent this book to several of my friends in education. This book is excellent and something I wish I had 20 years ago. I feel mild disappointment it wasn’t written in 2003, I would have benefitted greatly.

Unneeded

This book doesn’t say anything you can find elsewhere. Zero development of ideas and only repetition. Read something else, like Conviction to Lead.
