Publisher's Summary

Loved it!

I knew the film version of the story, which I love, but the book is so much more! The narration by Éric Herson-Macarel is absolutely perfect, his voice suits the story beautifully! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an epic story, a classic, or just something to read. And if you are learning french (as I am) this is a great book to try, I was reading along with the free ebook. My only complaint is that there’s no information regarding the music, I would love to get the song that plays at the end of both parts, but have no idea what it’s called.

Possibly my favorite book of all time

So far, this is the only novel I've come across on Audible that is in two separate parts. Yep, it's a really long book. I love Dumas, but this is the first time that I have read " Le comte de Monte Cristo." It was wonderful. The performer is very good. I hope that any English language version on Audible is equally enjoyable. M. Eric Herson-Macarel reads clearly, has a beautiful speaking voice, and uses enough variation between characters to make it interesting without overdoing it. As for the story, I think it is probably Dumas' best work and one of the best novels I've read in English or French. Vive Dumas!

Viviam

Beau roman.

Fantastic performance

The reader excellent. the Best I ve ever listened. The story feels a little diluted sometimes, as writers used to, to make money.

Sensational book, a masterpiece

This book was an absolute page turner. The story is long but never gets slow. I was not expecting something like this. The first three chapters were a little cheesy, that would be my only negative critic. The story takes off as soon as the main characters and background is set and it then an absolute delight of 200+ chapters. The performance of the reader is to be stressed out to. I recommend it for everyone.

Superlative

Romantic, wonderfully dramatic, and unselfconscious and unreserved in a way that almost no modern literature is. Apparently Dumas got paid by the line, but it worked to beautiful effect in this marvelous novel. A major investment in time, but by the time it’s done, you’ll feel every second was well spent. Stunning performance, stunning writing. Just wonderful

A true jewel.

Narration is truly incredible. The voice never wavers, contrary to other books when you know the narrator has taken a break, or came back next day etc. Truly wonderful.
