Publisher's Summary
Marlie Kane needs salvation. Not just for herself but for her three brothers, two of whom can’t stay sober long enough to pay rent in Boston. When their landlord tells Marlie that her only way to make money is to sell her body, she’s praying for a miracle and willing to try anything to get away.
Graham Evans is the cooper and carpenter of the town of Gilgamesh in Lazarus County. After losing his wife to diphtheria, he came to New Mexico to forget his past. He’d long since given up on love but is surprised by the happiness his friend Nate has found with his mail-order bride. Ready to throw the dice, he puts out a matrimonial ad himself.
Graham is hardly prepared for Marlie’s three brothers to show up in Lazarus County with her. The whole town is shocked by the arrival of other outsiders, who think that the family owes them something. Their plans to take it out of Marlie’s flesh lead to a confrontation and a decision by Graham that changes his life forever.
Amber Seraph is proud to present her second story of the town of Gilgamesh in Lazarus County. It’s a place she’ll keep visiting and hopes you will, too.

within its genre, stellar
Book 2 in a series. While there is a two references to characters and events of the first, the story stands well on its own. In a way, this story is slightly better than the first. The "conflict" is more real, the characters cut from actual "homesteaders" cloth and the "romance" a bit more tangible. While still so wholesome I fear for hyperglycemia, it is a lovely and decent story. Very enjoyable

Graham and Marlee!
What happens when your brothers can't make the rent? Maria finds herself in a predicament and needs to find a solution before she has to pay in an unsuitable way. She finds herself writing to a man in Gilgamesh, New Mexico in hopes of becoming a mail order bride and possibly bringing her brothers along. Graham is looking for happiness after losing his wife. Seeing his friend happy with his mail order bride, he decides to give it a try. When Maria and Graham finally meet, will there be sparks? This is a sweet story, one of hope and love. I love listening to the letters, and Graham's reaction of Maria's was so compassionate, I fell for him then. It's another great installment to this series. Charley Ongel continues the narration bringing her wonderful voices to the story. She adds a whole new layer to the series with her storytelling and creates hours of listening entertainment.
