Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him?

the actor keeps slipping into a New York accents. she did it with Wild Man too. it takes away from the story for me.

What is with the New York accents?

Would you consider the audio edition of Law Man to be better than the print version?

I think the change in tone and voice really enhanced the story.

What did you like best about this story?

Of all the KA books I've read, this had the most heart.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Mitch was trying to calm Bud down. You could feel the love coming from Mitch and the little boy's fear perfectly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some emotional moments, but I laughed more than cried.

Any additional comments?

Nothing beats a KA alpha!

Love Mitch Lawson!

How could the performance have been better?

I have listened to this entire series and am completely baffled as to why the voices...set in Denver...are normal in this first book and somehow in the following books everyone ends up sounding like they are in New York. Especially when the DREAMY man sounded normal and completely sexy in book one and now sounds like he's from Brooklyn...but only sometimes. It's very distracting when you listen to books all the time and especially when you like the book so much and WANT to like the narration.

I love Mitch's story!!

AGAIN with the Brooklyn accent???? Seems l like this narrator thinks that any "classless, crass, obnoxious" character MUST have a Brooklyn accent! It's kind of insulting and jarring, cause the accent doesn't fit with the character. You might want to clue her in!

Loved it,but...........

What made the experience of listening to Law Man the most enjoyable?

I liked the sweetness of the story. I felt for Mara and her insecurities and her battle to be strong and fit in. Her courage is highlighted in the story.

What other book might you compare Law Man to and why?

I can't compare other books because I' ve always felt that wasn't fair to the author. I will say I enjoy this type of contemporary romance. I've recently purchased and enjoyed books by Katy Evans, Abbi Glines, J.Kenner, and Christina Lauren.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I think Kate Russell is great when she doesn't try so hard to animate the male voices. The first book in the series 'Mystery Man' she did a WONDERFUL job. But the rest of the series she ruins the sex appeal of the hero when she tries to create a tough guy persona, it ends up sounding pretty silly. I had to read Motorcycle man and Wild man of this series on EBook because she really ruined the narration for me. The key to a male narration of voices for a woman is to stick to what's more natural not forced. It's extremely distracting.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I enjoyed this book immensely from start to finish. With exception to the overly animated male voice.

Any additional comments?

I hope the series continues and I hope that Audible will take the suggestion of the customers when they give their feedback on Narrators. Because I'm really starting to tire of wasted credits on annoying performances to a good book.

Sexy Lawman Stakes His Claim!!! Yum Yum...
