The perfect poison....

Kirby Jackson is excited when Memaw’s book club plays host to his favorite mystery author. But the night ends on a sour note with the death of Memaw’s friend, Barb.

The only secrets Barb Simone ever kept were those about herself. No one knew she had cancer. No one knew she had a boyfriend. And no one knew she was the basis for a character in a best-selling mystery series.

But it wasn’t cancer that killed Barb. Kirby suspects foul play.

Can the sleuth and his dog solve another case? Find out today!

Very cute stories

The characters in these books are very engaging. The mysteries are clever and the stories well plotted. The narrator does a cracking job of inflection and distinguishing between the characters.

Second in the series

I liked this 1 just as much as the 1st. Keeping the same narrator who was great in book 1 is a big plus.

For fans of Psych

I love cozy murder mysteries. Psych, Castle and Monk are favorites of mine. A great mystery but tied in with great characters who have their own lives and journeys to go on.

Kirby and this series joins those ranks.

Great characters with their own drama and then mix in a great who done it.

Highly recommend

Kept Me Guessing

This is a nice mystery that kept me guessing all the way to the end. I have not read the first title in this series, but found that this book can easily stand on it's own. I had a hard time with the narration and felt the pacing was stilted. Overall, I'd recommend this to others who enjoy a good mystery.

Fun ride, nice cozy mystery

A nice follow up to the first one. The crime-solving aspect is a little subdued here, but the overall experience of a leisurely encounter with some interesting characters pretty good. Mee-Maw getting into more hijinks was just what the series needed. Did not expect the story to go the "meta" way so early in the series - but when a writer of cozy mysteries comes into town to visit a friend and a crime takes place, we are given the opportunity to reflect how the genre works as a whole. Overall, a fun read!

Another fun tale.

Kirby Jackson, the owner of Kapow Coffee (a combo coffee shop/comic book store), is back. It’s been months since the murder of his best friend and business partner and just as things appear to almost be back to normal he stumbles into another mystery. This time around it’s his girlfriend’s aunt…and of course despite being warned not to, Kirby and his dog Gambit insert themselves into the investigation.

Lattes and Lies is the second book in the Coffee and Comics Case Files cozy mystery series. It’s a fun story with a good cast of characters and a decent story with some clever twists.

Great mystery!

I really like this series and this is a great second book but would work well as a standalone also. Great mystery. I received a free copy and left my honest review
