Publisher's Summary

"One of the best fantasy novels I have read so far this year." (Rebecca Ross, Reedsy Discovery)

When a bloodthirsty horde storms out of the north, refugees flee for their lives, among them the skald Nyra Sahtis and Sister Caelin, a priestess who was once a trainer of armies.

But with the capital, Jeridium, under siege from a second incursion, there is nowhere left to run.

As rival armies converge on Jeridium, the Senate are reduced to clutching at straws. In a desperate last gambit, they send the assassin Shadrak the Unseen past enemy lines and into the mountains, where he must find a grief-stricken warrior and his mythical axe.

"Derek Prior always produces masterpieces of storytelling, with great characters full of life, relentless plots, and gripping and intense fight scenes." (Mitchell Hogan, author of A Crucible of Souls)

Really enjoyed it

I loved the series except for book 2. This book brought the old band together and introduced new interesting characters. I wasn't thrilled with what had happened to Nameless between the end of the previous book and this one, not to mention his wife. But still it was an epic story of redemption, jam pact with emotion and bloody good battles. I hope there will be another installment.

pleasantly surprised by narration

Larry Oblander surprised me with his narration of the book and characters. l had voices for the characters already in my mind from reading the novel previously and Larry actually nailed my impression of what they would be. As a Nameless fan ,I was glad his tale was not yet over and we got to enjoy him again, but noticed that his character was not the "main" point of focus and allows you to venture out in other directions and yet still intertwine the characters. Looking forward to what is in store for the future .

Exquisitely written and superbly performed!!

Excellent!! I got lost in this story and the world that Derek Prior created. I can't wait till the next book. Larry Oblander is definitely one of the great narrators. He brought life to the book in a way that few do. It is talent that few have. I am absolutely pleased that I found Last of the Exalted. It is a Must Read.

Didnt Shadrak also go by the Nameless Dwarf?

I'm very confused because Shadrak & Cody married. He stopped going by The Nameless Dwarf, the same character who killed Cody, her previous Husband and her baby daughter.

D.P. Prior Wrote The Nameless Dwarf. He's changed his bio name to Derek Prior & when you search for Derek, The Nameless Dwarf doesn't show up.

**READERS, if you want the full background for Shrader, The Nameless Dwarf and other wonderful books, search for D.P. Prior 1st. Yes, this can be read as a stand-alone, however, the author seems to have decided to create 2 characters out of 1-lone Dwarf!

*Sorry for any spoliers*

Excellent story!

Great writing and narration in this epic fantasy tale. There's some bad editing in 3 chapters. A few words and sometimes entire sentences are just skipped over making those chapters very hard to follow.

It was like sticking her fingers into putrified meat.”

A really enjoyable story with plenty of action. Great narration too with great character voices.

Well worth listening to

A truly enthralling tale filled with well fleshed characters and invigorating plot. Prior has the Midas touch when it comes to storytelling and you cannot help but become immersed. Grim and gritty in some places tender and emotional in others the plot will grip you from the first chapter to the last. Oblander's narration is excellent with each character easily discernable through accents and cadences in speech. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable audiobook

Simply brilliant.

I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.

An amazing journey, a complex tale masterfully woven and delivered perfectly in this epic book. The depth and detailing is remarkable, the characters are great, each with their own backgrounds, depth and identity. they all come together aptly.
Its a mesmerising journey, one I'm glad I took.
The narration is flawless, only adding to the allure of the book.
I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone.
Easy a 5 star book.
