Publisher's summary

It's a private eye’s job to dig up secrets. But what if those secrets turn out to be her own?

It’s been two years since Dinah Collins left the NYPD in disgrace, forced out for digging too deeply into the sudden disappearance of a fellow cop—her brother, Danny. Now, scraping by as a PI, Dinah is hired to find a young woman, Lucy Fisher, who vanished on Halloween, last seen wearing a creepy costume.

As she pursues a deadly trail of clues, Dinah will find she’s faced with a terrible choice: If she can only save one person, Danny or Lucy, who will it be?

Last Seen Wearing is a novel-length, full-cast dramatic production and the latest gripping crime story from internationally best-selling author David Hewson.

About the Author

David Hewson left school at the age of 17 to become a cub reporter on the Scarborough Evening News, and over the next two decades worked as a journalist for The Times, The Independent and The Sunday Times. A resident of Canterbury, England, he never lost the desire to write fiction, or his love of the world’s different cities. His first book, Semana Santa, now reissued as Death in Seville, appeared in 1995 and was later turned into a movie. Hewson has written more than 20 books since 1995.

David has been an integral part of Audible Originals for more than a decade, beginning with The Chopin Manuscript (2008 Audie Award winner for Audiobook of the Year) and including three projects based on the works of Shakespeare: Macbeth: A Novel; Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel (Audible’s 2014 Audiobook of the Year); and Romeo and Juliet: A Novel.

Live Action!

I had no idea this book included lots of sound effects and live action! Once I figured it out it was interesting and a different way to listen to a book--a little loud on occasion!

Story was good, actors were good, I think the ending could have been better but maybe there's a sequel in mind.

If you like twists and turns in your crime books, this one is for you!

Interesting performance

Story line a bit hard to follow but good. Performance is more like a theatre production than novel. Interesting approach

Created especially for Audible

Author David Hewson is behind some of my favorite "audio-first" projects like Macbeth: A Novel and Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel in which he and co-creator A. J. Hartley brilliantly re-imagined two of Shakespeare's classics. Last Seen Wearing is something quite different and is even more audio-centric. Here, Hewson, in this full-cast production, takes on NYC with a crime story unlike anything else you've listened to. If you're a fan of TV shows featuring cops, PI's, and detectives you'll want to check this one out. Warning: If listening while driving, take care to ignore random sirens and car horns—you're not (likely) getting pulled over by the fuzz or being tailgated by an 18-wheeler.

Best Yet

Great background music and sound effects! Brought the story to life, along with excellent character voices! A very well- written mystery.

Wow!

The music, and full cast of characters made this mystery/suspense exciting and thrilling to listen to. The plot, narration, and music were fantastic. I felt like I was at a theater watching a professional production. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

Pretty Darn Good (if you like theater radio)

The story was captivating, the actors were great and the production was top-notch. It creeped me out a bit when Mr. Man would call using one of those voice altering machines. All in all, this was very entertaining.

Awful production

Story's great, as I would expect from Hewson. But production resembles a radio drama - complete with lots of distracting and annoying sound effects. Probably not a good one to listen to with earbuds.
