Publisher's summary

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life takes readers behind the velvet rope and inside A-list nightlife. At 35, Destiny Day is at the top of her game. Having escaped her hardscrabble beginnings in the small Midwestern town she calls "East Boogie, Illinois," she is the savviest sister walking around in a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. As New York's premiere party promoter, she has glitz, riches, and steers clear of any man who threatens to cramp her style. Her parties, held at the hippest clubs, are packed with hip-hop royalty; top celebs from the worlds of sports, film, and fashion; and New York's most successful power brokers. Destiny's personal life takes a backseat to her career, but she's got two best friends and a string of men to keep her satisfied. However, when she meets Taye Crawford, an independent financial advisor, at one of her own fantastic parties, Destiny finds herself moving in a direction she never anticipated.

What a surprise

I thought I would hate this book. Between the title and the first few words from the main character, I thought it would be a torturous 8 hour read about a whorish party girl. I'm so glad I was proven wrong. I got to know the characters, their motivations, and along the way I learned to care about what happened to them ... and even root for them! There was a twist in every turn of the plot line (which was woven together quite masterfully, I must say).

There hasn't been a book in the African-American fiction genre on Audible.com that I've enjoyed so much. I'm hoping for a sequel, or at least another novel by the author!

Surprisingly... Pretty Good

When I first started listening I wasn't immediately sucked in and the book was more like "white noise" in the background- but as time went on I started to pay attention and was surprised that the book was actually pretty good. It was refreshing to see such a "difficult" lead character be won over by un unexpected love in the end.

Must Have The Time

It took me some time to get into this book. It it took me three week to listen to the entire book. It was slow in the begining. But the twist to this book was once I got though the beigining the middle picked up and then at the very end I could not put it down. I was a simple book and sometimes hard to follow, but I would recommend it for listening.

Living the Nite Life

This story reminds me of George Benson's song, "Night Life". People who think that the most important facts of life is living with alcohol, bells, whistles, strobe & twinkling lights, & sexual attraction. The CEO of selling the fantasy parties entertainment has exploded & leaves behind lives wrecked. The story demonstrates the atitude, the trust & loyalty issues, the meaning of money, the importance of relationships, and the toll this type living does on the body, mind, & soul.

Not for me

I am sure this is a great book for a different reader, but it was not the book for me. I just never got into it, plus the sex scenes are too graphic for my taste. I would not recommend it to my friends.

Loved it, loved it loved it! The narrator did her thing. It sounded like she'd read this book even if she wasn't getting paid to do so. Her manner was engaging and hightened the enjoyment of an already enjoyable storyline. In my past experiences with audible books, my main drawback has always been the narrator, but after this experience, I actually think I'll look for her name when selecting my next "listen"

It was an ok read

I really wanted to like this book. I didn't like anything about it until about the end when Destiny had her "come to Jesus" moment.

Pleasant surprise

Perfect combination of a well wriiten story and a narrator that keeps your attention. The words flowed from the book out of the narrators mouth like poetry.
