Unexpectedly good

I listened to this book just to decide whether it would be appropriate to recommend to my middle school students. I really enjoyed it, and I have no real interest in the Assassin's Creed video game, aside from the historical aspect. This book was well-written and managed to show both historical and contemporary perspectives on an often unknown bit of American history while still managing to keep the reader interested in the contemporary aspect of the story. I am looking forward to the next novel!

Teens Enter The Animus

What did you love best about Last Descendants?

SPOILER ALERT: That there were multiple Animus users that were able to access the same memory sync file due to the fact that all of their ancestors had crossed paths with one another within the same timeline.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Last Descendants?

SPOILER ALERT: There was a character in the story who was very naive upon his entry into the story and when he accessed his ancestors' memory, he ended up feeling all of the emotional pain and the exact thoughts racing through his ancestors' mind when he experienced being beaten by a group of racist thugs.

Afterward, when his role in the memory was over, it was almost like he walked out of it all with PTSD.

What about Dan Bittner’s performance did you like?

By far the best narrator I've had the pleasure listening to. In terms of variety for the voices for each character in the story, he has both quality and quantity. There were points where he did reuse certain voices, but it wasn't as often as I would've expected like most audios and even when he did, you really didn't mind it one bit.

Another key note: being that this is the world of Assassin's Creed, he really came through with all the different dialects of each ancestral ethnicity with extreme precision! I thought that alone was fantastic!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was just excited to be on the ride from beginning to end.

Any additional comments?

If you're an AC fan, don't be shy, pick this up and there is 2 more books that continue this story.

Could not Stop Listening To!

This book has more suspense than the original 5 games, that's saying a lot for this series. I think it was because it had to do with the characters going into the past for personal reasons. The narrator was okay at the beginning, but I got used to it.

Great In Every Way

Great on every level. Narrator was fantastic, both in range of unique character voices and engaging rather than monotonous. The story went by fast, which is a testament to the well-written sequence of events, interesting characters, and balance between action and mystery. Looking forward to the next 2 books!

Great Adventure Story esp for Kids

The book starts out really slow and you even want to fast forward thru some of it. But when it kicks into gear after 20 minutes, then it becomes a 4-5* star fast paced adventure story with young adults being the stars.

It involves present day with time travel via DNA to New York during its early hard days. Storyline is believable and SyFy fascinating.

There are slow parts of the book that u will want to fast forward thru a lot, ie the Opera singer section, which is often quite boring. But most of the book is filled with awesome fun filled action.

Assassins, Templar's, time travel.

If you want a vacation from your brain or your current lot in life - then go here and enjoy some awesome fantasy.

Narrator is great!
