Worth more than a few therapy sessions!

I tried to read the book and found it very dry and hard to plow through, but I knew others who'd read it and found the information as useful as it sounds in the publisher's own description. So I downloaded the Audible version despite reading that said it's not the same as the book . . . and that turned out to be a very good decision! This version was compelling, easier to absorb and remember, and very worthwhile. I have listened through once and will be listening at least one more time. I look forward to this book's healing influence on my life -- I feel I got a LOT for my 7 hours and 30 minutes.

not the book

This is not the book! I have the book and wanted to get this to be able to listen to while I walk and to read along with when I do have the time to sit. This should be presented as a companion to the book.I am very dissappointed! I find her reference to New Age concepts as "New Agy" is actually quite condescending

Outstanding - Refreshingly Useful

What did you love best about Language of Emotions?

Finally a useful resource for decoding emotions! No references to 'unconditional love' (which is so often misused to perpetuate victimization and can defeat any potential for advancement). Really tangible, practical information about recognizing what emotional responses represent and how to effectively work with them. Karla McLaren is motivationally comforting and deeply respectful of the human spirit.

Worth the money!

I am a therapist and psychiatrist in Boston. Once I listened to this I thought, "this is so good it's going to put me out of business!" I've recommended it to many of my clients, who have various ailments but all suffer from the epidemic of poor emotional health. These principles, especially when combined with Internal Family Systems, have improved my life and my craft. Thank you so much for your brilliant work, Karla. I am so grateful.

Get it. read it. listen and then do it again and again.

You can read all the books you want...

But, unless you understand your emotions, no amount of reading and retaining information will help you. Her amazing personal story and practical solutions to this problem are evident when you begin to see emotions for what they really are and use their potential for good.

I don't know that I would listen to this again

I was hoping for something more in the realm of alternative medicine and or chakras. what I got was somewhat of a confused perspective. is the author an alternative medicine enthusiast too? or a make-shift therapist? At one point she made a comment bashing meditative practices but yet one of her skills she teaches you is a meditative practice. My confusion reach a high when she stated that you should go to a doctor for the 100th time and also take your meds... not exactly what I was hoping to get out of this.
