The Complete Idiot's Guide language audio programs are guaranteed to work for beginners, as a refresher course, and even with those who have been frustrated in other attempts to learn a foreign language. You can start learning today.
I've tried several language programs for French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. This was one of the worst. The phrases don't stick in your mind. A string of words is thrown out in Japanese with no breakout of individual words. I found a couple of other Japanes language tapes far more helpful.

I found this to be nearly useless--I would have been completely lost if I hadn't listened to Pimsleur's Japanese instructions tapes first. The only parts that were useful were the numbers and seasons--I couldn't make much sense of the other lessons. This is definitely NOT and introductory guide; there is no review of what you have learned, no way to listen & repeat the phrases, the translations come afterwards, and I found the organization very difficult to follow.

Just don't do it. Terrible unproductive format for learning. The complete suit's guide to vaguely recognising a similar sounding sentence and responding with a random expression like a goon.
