Critic Reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)

Very Helpful

I never learned Tagalog as a kid even though both my parents are from the Philippines, so I wanted to be able to learn it some day and here I am with Pimsleur. I'm only on chapter 6, but this audio has helped me a lot. I never thought of myself as an audio learner, yet I've learned sentence structure faster than reading in Tagalog.

Helpful

I completed each lesson twice (over two nights) before moving on. I must listen at 3/4 speed or the pauses aren't long enough for me to respond. Still, I sometimes still pause. I'm now going to go back through all the lessons at regular speed, both for review and, hopefully, to increase my response time. Then I will proceed to the next set of lessons. I have received many compliments from Filipina friends about my progress.

Overall Good

I learn Spanish with Pimsleur many years ago and overall I I think it is a great way to learn. However they often say sentences that I can understand no matter how many times I listen to them and they don't say what they mean afterwards! it would be nice to have the lessons also in written form so we could see exactly what they're saying. I would use Google Translate to figure out what some of the words were that they were saying and it helped so much to be able to see it for me.

Tagalog

use it ! it works! repeating chapters helps and using the option of slowing the dialogue down is recommended.
