Very good, except...

This audiobook needs a downloadable companion booklet as some other language courses have. It helps to "see" what is being heard. It can be hard to distinguish between some letters when heard, but seeing them makes the learning much easier. Otherwise, a great Spanish course for the price.

I have also purchased Rapid Italian, Vols. 1 & 2 and am grateful for the accompanying booklets that aid my learning.

An O.K. Review of Basic Castillian Spanish

Not too bad if you just want a quick and dirty review of the basics.Remember, this is European Spanish, not Spanish as it is generally spoken in The Americas. Anyone could benefit from the basic vocabulary and grammar, as long as one remembers that local dialects and customs will vary.

A great refresher!

This audiobook has been a great refresher! I took Spanish for 4 years in High School, and am trying to re-learn for communicating with my boyfriends family and traveling with them. I listen to this during my commute to work and I feel it all coming back. It is easy to understand, the narrators are please tell to listen to. All in all, a great program!

Not for absolute beginners

It's excellent if you have basic knowledge about Spanish grammar.
If you know nothing about Spanish it will confuse you.

Not very helpful

I work in an office where most people are Spanish speaking. I admittedly don't speak much Spanish but figured I might be able to glean some usefulness out of this.

I got up to Section 7 (Chapter 6?) and had yet to hear anything that was really of any use. At one point, I was repeating what the speaker was saying in Spanish and my coworker got a funny look on her face. I told her what it was supposed to be in English, then repeated what the speaker said in Spanish. She informed me that HE was pronouncing it incorrectly!

So much for that! :(

ok

It's just word for word translations. No explanation on how or why things are said. This helps for review in my learning but not for initial learning when understanding the language helps make the information stick.
