    Need both audio and book

I thought I wouldn't need the interactive part but you do. It just reads the spanish to go with the book. Cant just listen in your car. Defeats the purpose in my opinion.

    Practically unusable

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Having some actual usable learning would be nice.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Not this book.

Would you be willing to try another one of SpanishPod101.com’s performances?

    Probably not.

What character would you cut from Learn Mexican Spanish - Word Power 101?

There are no characters in this language learning book.

    Any additional comments?

The Spanish pronunciation narrator spoke so fast and so softly that non-native Spanish speakers can't remotely follow.

    A review for intermediate Spanish

First let me say that I giggled at the review that states it was, "very hard to understand the Spanish. Even words I know I have a hard time understanding from her". I live in a Spanish speaking community and the narrator does not mispronounce anything. Her speech is fine, but perhaps the REVIEWER had been either mispronouncing those Spanish words or learning from a person who was not a native speaker or has a hearing challenge (not uncommon with audiobooks). I am almost fluent now and feel that this audiobook is more of a review than "starting to learn" as the title suggests. Yes, there are some basic words but there are also phrases that spoken fairly quickly. A beginner is not going to know the words being said without seeing them. So this is a good book if you want more review time and practice but you already know some Spanish. I'm a bit too advanced for it now, but this would have really come in handy a year or two ago.

    Excellent Supplement

Where does Learn Mexican Spanish - Word Power 101 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This question isn't really appropriate for a language tool. I've currently been through the Pimsleur Spanish, and I'm experimenting with others. This is a great tool for anybody like me who is struggling but absolutely refuses to give up. This tool provides an excellent series of useful word examples.

What other book might you compare Learn Mexican Spanish - Word Power 101 to and why?

This audible would be a poor choice as a first lesson. It absolutely requires some background in Spanish. That said, if you have the background, this is a great way to reinforce what you already know. It moves at a fast pace, and the enunciation could be a little better, but everything is completely understandable by the 2nd or 3rd listen.

What does SpanishPod101.com bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    N/A

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    N/A

Would be confusing for a beginner

This is a nice review for intermediate speakers. However, it will be confusing if you are just starting out. It doesn't explain the difference between similar words, such as ser and estar, it just uses them in sentences.

    UN = one/Noooooooo it doesn’t

“Un” in Spanish was presented as translating to “one” in English so yeah that freaked me out-
I’m close to the beginning of my language journey and it is a glaring mistake or is it?

Ps “un” translates to “a” in English at least that’s what google says when typed in alone.

    Not impress.

In my opinion, the pronunciations were not as good as they could be. The translations were off in my opinion it was not very informative overall.

Great tool to gain more input

I have been studying Spanish for about 6 months now and love the format of this. It’s not going to teach you anything but rather reinforces words, and how they are used together in a phrase. I would love more content like this. Just listening to this sort of input, is incredibly beneficial, even if you do know each word. It’s not intended to be absorbed word by word, but rather how the words are used together. To become fluent, you have to be able to pull content from what you understand of what is being said, and not going word by word is much better in the long run that dissecting each little piece. I am loving this!!!!!
