Publisher's Summary

Learn French with Ease!

Do you want to learn French quickly? Or perhaps you already know the basics, but you still have difficulties in assimilating this charming language? Do not worry; this audiobook will help you.

By using this audiobook together with practice, you can learn to understand, read, write, and speak this beautiful language. French tends to have a reputation among English speakers as hard to learn, but it’s easier than you might think. Many courses of language study assume you are going there for vacation, and so begin their lessons with everyday survival phrases that people use. There is some of that in this audiobook, but consider that verbs are what make a language.

During each chapter of this audiobook, you will be guided, and each part will have examples, followed by practical exercises.

Just some of the questions and topics covered in this audiobook include:

  • Pronunciation
  • The French alphabet
  • How to count in French
  • The time, date, and calendar
  • The elements of a sentence
  • The verbs of group 1-3
  • Conjugation
  • Different types of sentences
  • Expressions
  • French vocabulary for travel and vacation
  • And much more!

A Very Good Book

Very good book. easy way to get comfortable with French. Highly recommend to beginners. I was overwhelmed with the lessons and examples; I was enjoying it for at least three hours the day I've got it.

Good Book To Learn French

This is an excellent book for beginner and intermediate French students. It's very thorough, and covers more than just the present tense.

Unique French Learning Book

I find the book useful and full of helpful knowledge, but I had to learn some basics before I could use it. This is a good book and I use it every day.

Not a good practice tool

honestly, the narrator talks at you like he's in a rush. There is no fine tuning of pronunciation nor practice of the material beyond stating something once and moving on. I realize that this is more of a personal preference but the voice of the narrator is rather grating as well.

Robots have terrible accents.

Having lived in Paris I am very familiar with pronunciation. I can't tell if this is a robot but the pronunciation/accent is horrendous and if you try to imitate don't be surprised if no one understands you!

too fast

This is the second french book I purchased - it's way too fast. The pronunciation is incorrect or just too fast that you can't catch up. I changed the speed on my kindle - but that made way too slow..

useless. my first purchase. useless.

absolutely useless. Just rushes through the lessons. Maybe book was useful. but as an audio book, doesn't work at all. Need repetition for beginners.

too technical, not for learning basic french

if you are interested in learning structure, all the technical parts of the language, this book is for you. if you are looking to learn basic french, look elsewhere.

an impressive book

Do you have any additional comments?

This is a great book! Yes, you will learn French up to an intermediate level if you complete the book. It builds upon itself with each lesson and new chapter. I just don't understand the negative reviews. You need to give the book a chance. Each Chapter has constant reviewed words in it and difference breaks for vocabulary study. I highly recommend it!

Great Resource

Any additional comments?

Great resource. Has useful vocabulary along with, obviously, tons of grammar lessons and little practice activities too. There were a couple of higher-level grammatical concepts I would have liked to have seen but if you're looking for proficiency (which is what it's marketing itself as a guide for according to its cover), then I highly recommend it.

I Liked It

Do you have any additional comments?

I definitely like this book. I learn French using Fluent French software and I bought this book as a supplementary to the software.
The book explains everything clearly, it is very easy to follow and it leaves nothing obscure. As the title says "step-by-step" it builds the foundations of the French grammar.

It is just like a tutor

Any additional comments?

Went through this as I was taking lessons from a tutor who ordinarily doesn't love these books for her students but for me, being a beginner and doing it along with her lessons, worked well for me.

Helpful Book

Any additional comments?

I like this book. I am trying to brush up on my French and this is a good book for this purpose. I wouldn't use it as a textbook though.

Best French Book

Any additional comments?

This is one of the best French grammar books in its price range on the market. It's made up of short lessons that build upon themselves and exercises that reinforce the material. The content is straight-forward, and the examples used are sufficient in showing application of grammar by context.

Lessons are well planned out. Easy to follow and enjoyable learning. Anyone can learn to speak another language with this method.

Nice Work

Any additional comments?

I have been reasonably fluent in French in the past, but have forgotten too much. I enjoy working with the book. I don't need help with my accent, so I go through the lessons and say them aloud to get my mouth more used to the language. They are well organized and are a perfect format for me to pick up at random moments to practice.

Good Brush Up Tool

Any additional comments?

Bought this to brush up on my high school French so I could communicate better with the French Canadians at our southern RV park. Very helpful and I learned some things I was too stubborn to learn in HS. I like the exercises but will need to add an English-French dictionary.

A Quick French Guide

Any additional comments?

I had to learn French rather quickly, so I purchased this. Was very easy to use and had a lot of written pieces in it. I was able to decipher a LOT of the French I experienced while in Paris. BUT....it did not prepare me for conversational French. It's one thing to say it and read it, but it was tricky to interpret what locals were saying, as I didn't HEAR the French. It's good though....
