Publisher's Summary

Past is Prologue...

When Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam set his cap at young Lady Harriette Middleton, his sole intention was securing her dowry. As a mere second son, his habits of taste demanded he marry a woman of substantial means. Having entered her bedchamber under the cover of darkness, he set upon his course. He promised to court her, to win her heart, to marry her.

Lady Harriette, the only daughter of one of the wealthiest peers in England, never accustomed herself to accept 'no' for an answer. Richard meant to change all that. She likened his declaration to win her heart as more of a challenge than a promise. By the end of their whirlwind courtship, it was unclear who was pursuing who.

The Story Unfolds ...

Their hasty courtship and subsequent marriage notwithstanding, Richard finds himself deeply in love with his beautiful wife. However, having seduced his innocent young bride, a single question haunts him--does he truly deserve his happiness?

Her husband's lack of fortune never concerned Lady Harriette - she loves him. Young, spirited, and beautiful, she has always enjoyed a charmed life. When Richard's past lands on their doorstep, suspicion soon rears its head, and Harriette's questions go unanswered. Seeking explanations on her own is her only recourse. Will she uncover more than she bargained for?

Lady Harriette: Fitzwilliam's Heart and Soul is a fast-paced, wonderfully engaging Regency romance. Inspired by To Have His Cake (and Eat it Too): Mr. Darcy's Tale, the provocative Pride and Prejudice variation, this story has all the passion one might expect of a worldly gentleman, violently in love, along with enough mischief and intrigue to keep readers turning the pages.

Pretty good

I liked Darcy's Noble Connections more but it was diverting and I do like Richard Fitzwilliam when he shows up in the PP books. Do not care for this narrator.

Colonel Fitzwilliam Meets His Soul Mate

I love Ms. Hewitt's ability to drawn you in when speaking Ms. Dixon's heartwarming, engaging dialogue! This is book three of an absolutely lovely trilogy. In this book, Col. Fitzwilliam finally wins the love of Lady Harriette. In book two, she had wanted Darcy...but Darcy and Col. Fitzwilliam are determined to keep her from harming his relationship with Elizabeth. Ultimately, Col. Fitzwilliam proves that he is her perfect match, and they achieve their HEA. She and Elizabeth discover a secret from Darcy's past - his former mistress, and she has an explosive secret that comes to light. Meddlesome relatives and others try to shake Harriette and Elizabeth's faith in Richard and Darcy. The two couples are able to overcome a great many odds and lively happily thereafter. Ms. Hewitt continues to amaze me with her ability to modulate her tone and inflection to capture the full range of emotions experienced by the characters. Her tone is very pleasant to listen to!! Each book in this trilogy builds upon the continuing storyline. You have to read this extremely original, well-written engaging trilogy!!! It is an absolute GREAT read. The three stories in this trilogy are ones that I have read and listened to over and over again!! It is a GREAT three story arc -- a MUST read!!

Lady Harriette a true original

Colonel Fitzwilliam has always been a difficult man to find a soul mate. In Lady Harriette he has found a scorching, intelligent, free spirited woman who will always keep him on his toes. How she affects him is so exciting to listen to and wondering what she will do next keeps you on the edge. Confronting the other woman, forgiving your husband for premarital transgressions and dealing with gossip are a few of the obstacles to happiness. This is a novel ,not short story, we are allowed to enjoy the emotional moments. Listening to the novel encompasses your brain in emotions and hearing the different characters voicing their concerns awakens the story. I want to thank P.O.Dixon for sending me the audible version.

A Perfectly fun couple

What made the experience of listening to Lady Harriette the most enjoyable?

Lady Harriette is sassy. While Elizabeth has wit and is impertinent Lady H is a sassy as they come, not to mention gutsy. Going into a "House of ill repute" dressed as a man. Now that takes guts especially in those days. Lady Harriette is one of my favorite characters second to Elizabeth. I would love to see another book with an expectant Harriette.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lady Harriette?

Showing her tough stuff when they are kidnapped and she strikes out at her captor. Besides dressing as a man. What a Lady

Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to Pearl Hewitt and she is a good performer, I like her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I plugged into my computer, put my earphones on, sat down, and stayed that way until the story was over. Of course I have my chair under my pretty tree with all my snacks on the table. Got myself comfortable and spent the day with the Darcy's and the Fitzwilliams

Any additional comments?

I want P.O. Dixon to write a sequel to this book. I want to see Harriette get that tough stuff going with a child in her arms.

The perfect accessory for multitasking.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

My favorite reading experience includes a hard copy P&P variation, a bowl of hot, buttered popcorn, and an icy cold Pepsi. Alas, other tasks call, and the more mundane the task, the louder the call. Enjoying a good audio book makes such tasks "tolerable, I suppose," ultimately "able to tempt me" to move from the comfort of my chair. Since my friends, in general, would rather read than do most other things, I know they would appreciate the diversion as well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It was interesting to watch the interactions of both Richard and Harriette with each other unfold.as they worked through the early days of their marriage.

What does Pearl Hewitt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The spoken word, when well done as here, draws out the emotions of the conversations, in particular, in ways the written word does not.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My favorite books by Ms. Dixon are the Young Knight's series. This one was certainly enjoyable, made me chuckle from time, and will undoubtedly be enjoyed again in the future.

Any additional comments?

Thank you for the pleasure you've given me with all of your books.

I grew to like her!

What did you like most about Lady Harriette?

I didn't much like the character of the eponymous heroine at first but as the story progressed, I grew to like her a lot more. So that would have to be my favourite part - the gradual change in my opinion of her.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The lovely Colonel Richard, as always, but we must never forget Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, although he doesn't play a large part in this book.

Have you listened to any of Pearl Hewitt’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I've heard many audiobooks narrated by Pearl Hewitt. This is performance is very similar to most of the others. I sometimes think she has a problem with the male voices but overall, she's pretty good and better than many I've heard.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Something's rotten in the Fitzwilliam family! Who's behind the disappearance of all the money?

Any additional comments?

I hadn't realised this was a sequel to some of P.O. Dixon's other works, but I shall now be going back to use some of my credit on them, as I'd love to hear where the original story begins.
