Publisher's summary

Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?

Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.

But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who's nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net...risking it all in search of a love that will last forever.

Kiss an Angel

There is so much I want to say about this book. First, I absolutely loved it. I bought it on sale and was not expecting much from it except a time filler. It blew me away with the depth. This was my first book from this author, but it definitely won’t be my last! When I read the publisher summary I thought it might be cheesy and shallow. For the first hour or so I was just listening along without much investment into the story. There was a turning point when Alex assigned Daisy to the Elephants. This is where the depth of story starts to unfold. From that point on little nuggets get revealed that completely sucked me in and the character and plot depth really opens up. There is so much to the story. I highly recommend this book!

Must Love Tigers

SEP delivers another great story filled with believable characters and lovable animals. Even though the book was written in 1996, it doesn’t feel dated; the atmosphere of the circus is timeless- and people have the same issues back then as they do today.
The main characters are written well with honest chemistry and asu usual, the secondary characters are just as important to the story. The animals are even treated as characters in their own right. And not just as props to move the story along. I’d recommend this book to anyone who has read and likes SEP and her style.

brutal bullying

I usually enjoy Phillips' characters with their overly "manly" men who take charge. this time though it was flat out bullying from the very beginning. And it kept on going throughout the book. Give this one a pass.....

Wonderful narration

Daisy Deveraux has a choice. She can either go to jail for writing bad checks or her father will pay her debt if she marries the mystery man he has chosen for her. The bridegroom her father chose is Alex Markov. Alex owes Daisy's father, so he has agreed to a six-month marriage. He has no intentions of playing the loving bridegroom. Alex is the manager of a broken-down traveling circus. He expects Daisy to help with the concessions, clean up after the animals, and be part of his act. Daisy's eyes are about to be opened. She's never worked a day in her life and is afraid of the animals. Can she make herself stay for six months?

I read this book when it first came out many years ago. This is a book that people either love or hate. It was my first book by this author and got me hooked on her. I loved the unique circus setting. I loved the humor. And, I loved Daisy and Alex.

I decided to listen to the audiobook to see if it stands the test of time. Anna Fields is the narrator and she did a fantastic job. Once again, I am giving this book 5 Stars.

Runaway to the circus of love.

SEPs earlier works are some of her best books. She weaves an imaginative story that comes alive in audio format.

The love story told here is by far one of my favourites. If you enjoy a plucky, ditzy warrior, you love to listen to the story of Daisy and Alex.

Like if GOT season 8 was a romance novel from the 90s

I picked this book up because it was recommended by a podcast, and kept waiting for something that would justify the good review. But no luck, it’s terrible all the way through. The rampant consent issues are concerning, but this was written in the 90s, so that’s kinda baked in. But tampering with birth control is really bad, even by 90s standards. And what’s the deal with the ending?? Daisy is so concerned about Alex taking a knee that she’s willing to let her best friend get shot? And then a bait and switch and everyone is like okay cool no harm no foul? And what’s the deal with the weird fire magic at the beginning that is never again mentioned? All the humans are weird and contradictory and a bit rapey, so really the only likable character is the telepathic tiger. I’m on the fence about the groping baby elephant

Seriously, why do people like this book? That question is the only thing that kept me going to the end. Now rethinking who I can trust for recommendations.

A good book

This book held my interest and I recommend it. The story was cute and sometimes funny. I liked the narrator and I do prefer dual narration usually.

Nope nope nope

I bought this book entirely on the reviews and was disappointed. I've given it 90 minutes but in that time the only feelings I have are disdain for the characters.

The narration seemed fine but there's no redeeming it. I'd have given it no stars if possible.

This one was not for me

If you like predictable books, with quite a few sex scenes than this might be the book for you. I wanted to like the story, but overall I just never enjoyed this book.
The narrator just drove me nuts. As time went on, I was able to get over her voice, but that didn't make this story any better.
I might consider this a beach read. The easy kind of story where you could walk away and pick right up where it is and you didn't miss a darn thing.

Fabulous!

This is one of my favorite, all time grovel novels. The MMC really makes the indomitable MFC work hard to melt the ice around his heart. When she does, he makes a huge mistake and rightfully loses her. But, oh my, the groveling! He earns her back. In the meantime, there’s a full cast of interesting characters who catch your affection and pull you in. Definitely worth the credit!
