A nice story ruined by a terrible narrator

Killer.com is another Brent Marks legal thriller by Kenneth Eade, an ex-attorney who writes thrillers involving this character, political and environmental stories. I have read several of his Brent Marks books which are enjoyable stories about the legal system.

This story involves cyber-bullying and a framed-for-murder plot. The story itself is interesting and has been well-researched by Mr. Eade. However, the narrator of the Audible edition is simply overwrought and greatly distracts from the story itself. First, the narration seems rushed and underprepared. Time and again, the narrator fails to stay in the voice of a specific character, frequently blurring the tonality, pitch, and volume of the characters into a muddle. Second, and even more distracting, the narrator simply mispronounces words to the level of "ouch." A character does not enjoy a "draught" beer (correctly pronounced "draft" beer; the narrator calls the drink a "drought" beer (rhymes with "out"). The common word "inference", pronounced "IN-fir-ENCE", is butchered four times in the space of two paragraphs as "in-FUR-ence", which is a grammar school mistake. There are a dozen more similar problems, which appear to be the result of not simply consulting a dictionary rather than blindly reading out loud. A professional narrator is paid for her or his work; I would have enjoyed the story more had a little thoughtful attention been paid to the quality of the work at hand.

Thank you for the research on cyber bullying

I couldn't imagine Brent Marks could be guilty, but getting there was interesting. I fought thrun the defense for Brent.
Hard to believe how naive I was about the net.

Bremt Marks is an awesome lawyer!

Where does Killer.com rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely

Have you listened to any of Klaus von Hohenloe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't remember but I certainly liked him.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm not good at that type of thing. I can't think of anything.

Any additional comments?

Kept me interested all the way.
