Kilimanjaro

The challenge ahead for Ryan Jordan is to rise above the tragic memories that still haunt him. He sets out on a long uphill climb of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro with a group camping their way through East Africa. It will be three days and nights up into ever-thinning air and cold, forcing himself to go slow to acclimate and ensure success. Along the way, he starts to notice an Aussie woman who reminds him of the memories he is trying to escape. He becomes more interested as they begin to bond during the increasing struggle to the top. Follow Ryan as he ascends through jungle, highland scrub and into a lunar-like landscape during the climb while testing his bruised heart.

This short story was first published in Across the Border, a collection of seventeen short stories by the author centered around Ryan on his quest for personal meaning in his life. It follows the short story Felucca.

A very enjoyable and easy to understand short story. The narrator does an excellent job with this book. Overall excellent book to listen to.
