Publisher's Summary

"How about a story? Spin us a yarn."
Instantly, Phoebe Winterbottom came to mind.
"I could tell you an extensively strange story," I warned. "Oh, good!" Gram said. "Delicious!"
And that is how I happened to tell them about Phoebe, her disappearing mother, and the lunatic.

In her own award-winning style, Sharon Creech intricately weaves together two tales, one funny, one bittersweet, to create a heartwarming, compelling, and utterly moving story of love, loss, and the complexity of human emotion.

    "So many feelings!!!!!"

I read this book for my daughter's literature class I was overseeing and found myself enveloped by this story. There were deep themes that made all of us think and try to make sure we walk a mile in another's moccasins.

    "Not Just a Children's Book"

When my book group chose this book to read, I groaned inside, expecting some cutsie kid drivel. Boy, was I wrong! This is a profound, insightful, philosophical journey encompassing abandonment, coming of age, and death in a variety of families where things are almost never what they seem.

    "Not my favorite "

The main characters are two teenage girls with overactive imaginations almost to the point of ridiculous. I like that there is no bad language or inappropriate scenes. The grandparents in the story are a fun addition

    "the best children's literature"

The best children's literature, for me, is the collaboration between the child (narrator) and the author.

    "Great book."

My daughter insisted that I listen to this book after it was assigned reading for her middle school Language Arts class. She liked it so much she wanted me to hear it and I'm glad she did. It was very intriguing and had some great life lesson reminders.

    Story
"A coming of age story - a girl seeking her mother"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book is really interesting and is about a girl traveling across country with her grandparents, following the route of the girl's mother, who left the family. The girl is not sure if her mother is dead or alive, and they are all traveling to find out.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Walk Two Moons?

The girl's growth and change during the book.

Have you listened to any of Hope Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Thirteen-year-old Salamanca wants to find her mother - will she be dead or alive? Salamanca rides from Ohio to Idaho with her odd grandparents to find out, and along the way experiences love, loss, and a coming-of age.

    Any additional comments?

Great book for middle school students.

    "Heartbreaking"

I wasn't expecting this book -which is a children's book- to be so touching. I listened to it with my son and was really effected by it.

    "Great for family road trip"

Really well performed story that had some nice twists. Some delicate subject matter ( death, depression, a child placed with adoptive parents) but in my opinion fine for any age.
