Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling authors Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle, and Emily Jenkins comes the hilarious and heartfelt story of a group of magical misfits.

Nory Horace is nine years old. She's resourceful, she's brave, she likes peanut butter cookies. Also, she's able to transform into many different animals. Unfortunately, Nory's shape-shifting talent is a bit wonky. And when she flunks out of her own father's magic academy, Nory's forced to enter public school, where she meets a group of kids whose magic is, well, different.

This offbeat new series from hit authors Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle, and Emily Jenkins chronicles the misadventures of Nory and her oddball friends, who prove that upside-down magic definitely beats right side up.

11 - year old reviewer

What did you love best about Upside-Down Magic #1?

I love best how Nory learned to understand her magic, even though it was different than other kids magic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Nory's aunt, because she is so nice and tries so hard to be the best aunt in the world.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Soler’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to two other of Rebecca Soler's performances and they are all really good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A girl must confront bullies at school while living with her aunt because her magic is different than others.

Any additional comments?

I feel that the moral of this book is everyone has magic but some peoples magic is different then others and that's okay. Things can change and you make friends and you shouldn't mind what bullies say.

Enjoyed by the whole family!

My hubby, 5 year old daughter, 7 year old son, and I enjoyed this book on a recent road trip. We are having a harder time finding series 1-3 hours long that we can all enjoy (we have done all the A-Z mysteries, Magic Tree House series). We really enjoyed the characters, the expressive reading, and we all were laughing multiple times throughout. We are excited to continue with the series!

Can't wait for next book

My kids and I couldn't stop listening to this book. The storyline is compelling and the characters are nuanced yet approachable to even a 3rd and 2nd grader. We all reacted strongly to it emotionally - feeling angry when the characters were hurt and joy when they had their triumphs.

Great, fun story!

I (mom) and my two boys (5yo & 11yo) love it! It is one of our go to bed time books. Love the character voices! The narrator does a amazing job, and the story is especially captivating of my otherwise easily distracted kids. I have bought more of the Audibles books in the series per request of my oldest. We are very pleased and do recommend! Relatable characters, fun story, creative, and very fun to listen to.

This story is awesome

I loved the twists and turns that the upside down magic kids had to face. I also love that this story always has something going on, so it is never boring.
