Publisher's summary

Watchmaker Hermux Tantamoq is a hardworking mouse who is thankful for ordinary things: donuts, coffee, peaceful evenings at home with his pet ladybug. But his quiet life takes a dramatic turn when Ms. Linka Perflinger, dashing daredevil aviatrix and adventuress, bursts into his watch shop, drops off a broken watch and steals his heart.

Hermux can't wait to see Ms. Perflinger again, but she doesn't return. Instead, a shady-looking rat comes in and demands her watch. Fearing something is amiss, Hermux follows the rat and soon finds himself in the middle of a dangerous web of deception and intrigue.

What has happened to Ms. Perflinger? Who is this mysterious Dr. Mennus he keeps hearing about and how is he connected with Hermux's eccentric neighbor, cosmetics tycoon Tucka Mertslin? Hermux's life is suddenly full of twists and turns and is anything but ordinary.

He must be daring. He must be vigilant. And he doesn't know how. But as sure as corn is sweet and cheese goes moldy in the rain, Hermux must rescue Ms. Perflinger and, in the process, find out just what kind of mouse he really is.

Don't miss any of Hermux Tantamoq's exciting adventures.

Quite splendid a story

Hmmmm... nothing much I can say without giving away something about this book. I will say that it is a very good story... adventure, love, deception, betrayal, loyalty... this was my first story by this author, but definitely not my last!

Time Stops for No Mouse

A friend gave us this book and suggested we listen. We did so with our 9 and 11 year old. We could not stop! And even when arriving home from a road trip, would continue driving around the block 5 times to keep it going. Scott Campbell is a magnificent reader. We also listened to the sequel. We listen to a lot of books and this was one of our all time favorites.

Entertaining but not a children's book

My husband and I enjoyed listening to this story. Since it is about mice, you might expect it to be a children's book, but I think young children would be baffled or bored by the spoofs of modern art, opera, and other institutions. I recommend it for teens and adults who like children's books.

Car Trips

This is a good book for a long trip. Especially if there are any in the car

Great for the whole family

FROM STEVE FELDBERG, PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR, AUDIBLE:

Michael Hoeye's Hermux Tantamoq adventures, about an unassuming, watchmaking mouse, are the kind of children's books that bring a lot of pleasure to adults, too. They have just the right mix of witty humor, clever writing, and engaging fantasy, especially as narrated by Campbell Scott. My family had a blast listening to "Time Stops for No Mouse" on a weekend car trip; some of Hermux's magic must have rubbed off because the book ended just as we pulled into the driveway!

Delightful for All Ages

I love the Hermux Tantamoq books. It's a wonderful series, with a wonderful narrator. Campbell Scott is a favorite narrator, who pitches his voice deeper or higher, becoming meek, playful or husky and flaming. I feel AUDIO is his acting GENRE; he seems so free and playful and he just shines on dialogue.

With the Hermux books, a great narrator meets a charming storyteller, great for the whole family and enjoyable through many repeat listens.

What makes the Hermux books so special? The fact that they celebrate the small pleasures and little things which make life the richest: a crisp apple, delicious cheese, a sweet donut with a bitter coffee, the pleasures of nature, introversion, friends and family and pets.

The books fundamentally celebrate the prosaic and quotidian, from the nosy mail carrier to the bossy beauty queen, while making the small people and little frustrations of life seem funny.

The focus is on sharing the blessing, appreciating the world and enjoying the daily entry in Hermux's gratitude journal, read with warmth by Campbell Scott.

Make sure to enjoy all the books in the series, and urge Audible to have Campbell Scott narrate the fourth book "Time to Smell the Roses".

Enjoy! :)
