A dress rehearsal for Lolita

Jeremy Irons is near the height of his powers in this surprisingly affecting story. Delighted to finally find this so many years after it was broadcast!

Heartbreaking and beautiful

My children watched Rabbit Ears stories when they were new on video, and now I'm buying the audio versions (of the fables, folk and fairy tales) for my grandchildren. Jeremy Irons' reading of this Hans Christian Anderson tale is breathtaking: tender, wistful, melancholy, and rich with meaning.

Hans Christian Anderson is wonderful

I think I'd like it better without the soundtrack, but brilliant storytelling by Mr Irons.
