Publisher's Summary

John Flanagan's New York Times best-selling Ranger's Apprentice series has enraptured young readers with its medieval swordplay and sorcery.

Years have passed since Will led his people to victory in The Battle for Skandia, and now he oversees a peaceful fief in the south. Will's quiet days come to a sudden end, however, when troubling news arrives from the north. The king has been poisoned, and Will's abilities are desperately needed to track down the culprit - who's rumored to be an evil wizard.

    "Great Book"

John Keating's reading brings this book to life. He has been the narrator for the rest of the series and has all of the characters seem like people you may know in life.

I was glad that Audible has this to offer. I am just sorry that I had to buy the book again to get the correct reader.

    "Cliffhanger, yuck!"

I hate it when an author uses cheap positive features (like a dog) and a cliffhanger to cover for inconsistencies and incompleteness in the plot. For example, the enemy easily sees Will's tracks in the snow but Will has to use a dog (not trained for tracking) to find those he seeks. We are supposed to believe that he a skilled ranger can't back track his own path through the woods.

    "Two voices one story"

This is a great book and story. the narration is well enunciated, although in some parts it definitely sounds as if there are two different narrators trading back and forth

"Be prepared to get the next book after this."

Great story, but the book ends right in the middle of it. You must plan on getting the next book or don't bother getting this one.

Another great Ranger's Apprentice story by John Flanagan! Can't wait to listen to Book6. The whole series has been outstanding. Defiantly pick the narrator Joh Keating...completely engaging.

"Great series for the whole family"

Our teens were reading Flanagan's books when we were preparing to head out for vacation so we downloaded a couple of the audio books. we all loved then. John Keeting does an amazing job with the presentation as well.
