Publisher's summary

When a marauder destroys the underground sanctuary that Eva Nine was raised in by the robot Muthr, the 12-year-year-old girl is forced to flee aboveground. Eva Nine is searching for anyone else like her, for she knows that other humans exist, because of an item she treasures: a scrap of cardboard on which is depicted a young girl, an adult, and a robot, with the strange word, WondLa.

Tony DiTerlizzi honors traditional children's literature in this totally original space-age adventure - one that is as complex as an alien planet, but as simple as a child's wish for a place to belong.

OMG soo good

Just finished this book and I loved it. I did get skittle confused with some parts from the book and some parts from the audio wasn't talked from the book. I loved the ending though. It was very shocking to me. I was upset that muthur and Otto had to go 😞

Not bad, not that good

Interesting story that could use a lot more of everything. Terry hatcher did a good job with it though. The paper version has awesome artwork. The audio version is a little flat.

Awesome book!

Pretty easy to understand even though the lore seems complicated but it isn't. Great character development while they are all likeable. Very interesting and immersive lore. Plots were terrific, not boring at all. Overall an awesome and interesting book, and this is coming from someone who is very picky about novels, I can't think of anything bad about this book.

Read the print book

My children and I enjoyed this book so very much, that when they asked for this as an audible for a road trip I happily complied. That was a huge mistake. Listening to Teri Hatcher read this book made me want to tear out my own eardrums and step on them. Her slow, whining voice and lack of varied character voices made the listening experience painful. I think her terrible narration may actually have destroyed any chance that my younger children who have not read the book will actually ever enjoy the story, or even want to read the book or it’s subsequent sequels. Do yourself a favor, buy and enjoy the print book.

Excellent Adolescent Read!

Where does The Search for WondLa rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is an excellent book for those younger readers who want to be part of the dystopian movement that seems to be hitting the reading world.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character, Eva 9 because she is exactly the same as people of her age around us. She acts like any of us would at that age, yet, she lives in such a different world.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Teri Hatcher?

Yes but I wouldn't listen to a book narrated by Teri Hatcher, just because she was the narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Be careful what you wish for.

Any additional comments?

Excellent book for those innocent readers who love futuristic settings.

new favorite book

The book is written so beautiful and the characters are written so well that they can pull your heart strings with a sentence. And the reader made it very interesting to listen to.
