Publisher's summary

Vilaya the Sable Quean, her henchman Zwilt the Shade, and their savage cronies have set their sights on Redwall Abbey. Spiriting away one unlucky Redwall youngster after another, the vermin hope to weaken the abbey’s resolve and soften it for a takeover.

But what Vilaya and Zwilt don’t know is someone else is headed toward the abbey. Buckler, Blademaster of the Long Patrol, is among the bravest hares ever to set foot in Mossflower Wood. A hero-in-waiting, he is perfectly suited to strike down the evildoers.

“… the master shows no signs of letting up or slowing down the action of his sweeping sagas that play out in the lives of the gentle critters of Mossflower Wood.” ( VOYA)

Swilt vs Buckler

A great story but swilt’s death is a slight bit disappointing as a great story must have the hero about to lose but then somehow manages to win. Still a fantastic book.

Wonderful book, I love love love this series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to a friend. It was a great story, told from the author's mind with his voice giving life to the story. AMAZING!!! There is one negative though as the last few minutes of the book simply didn't exist in the recording. BIG problem.

Who was your favorite character and why?

favorite character? Seriously? hmmm I suppose IF I had to choose only one I might choose Mumzy.

Any additional comments?

My only negative, which is a pretty BIG negative. The last three minutes of the book were not there!!! I would have been beyond ticked off if I didn't have the physical book here with me, but having the physical book and NEEDING to look up the end totally negates the point of an audiobook, doesn't it?????

A wonderful book!

The Redwall series has always been a staple for me in literature and this twenty-first in the series was just as good as the first. I'll never stop wishing that Mark Jacques will take his father's place are the new author so that one day we might read more tales of the abbey and Mossflower country. Though one is always welcome to revisit the stories of old or share them so that others may make new friends and hear of great triumphs over evil and adversity. After all, the doors to Redwall Abbey are always open to good and gentle creatures..

One of his best

Sable Quean was one of his last books along with Rogue Crew and they are both some of h>d best in my opinion. It has a delicious mix of mystery, plot twists, action and always good food. One of my absolute favorites. On the negative side, the voices of a couple of the hedgehogs are difficult to listen to.

Love all Redwall series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

some people say that his books are redundant in plot. Maybe so, but the characters make up for all and the audiobooks are just fantastic. We listen while we drive on vacation and it makes the hours fly.
