Publisher's Summary

Since his mother’s death six years ago, Carter Kane has been living out of a suitcase, traveling the globe with his father, the brilliant Egyptologist Dr. Julius Kane. But while Carter’s been homeschooled, his younger sister, Sadie, has been living with their grandparents in London. Sadie has just what Carter wants — school friends and a chance at a “normal” life. But Carter has just what Sadie longs for — time with their father. After six years of living apart, the siblings have almost nothing in common. Until now.

On Christmas Eve, Sadie and Carter are reunited when their father brings them to the British Museum, with a promise that he’s going to “make things right.” But all does not go according to plan: Carter and Sadie watch as Julius summons a mysterious figure, who quickly banishes their father and causes a fiery explosion.

Soon Carter and Sadie discover that the gods of Ancient Egypt are waking, and the worst of them — Set — has a frightening scheme. To save their father, they must embark on a dangerous journey — a quest that brings them ever closer to the truth about their family and its links to the House of Life, a secret order that has existed since the time of the pharaohs.

    "Great book "

Absolutely love this series my only problem was the reading from Carter's point of view The reader spoke to slowly if he would've been able to read his part just a little faster it would've made it a lot more enjoyable also can't help to think that the British accent on Sadie's part was really bad it sounds like mine and I am horrible at accents still enjoyable to listen to though and like I said before truly love this book

    "Awesome!"

Fantastic story! Once again Rick Riordan takes an elaborate mythology, similar to the Greek gods of Percy Jackson and makes it a wonderful and educational adventure. Great characters, wonderful narration. Loved it and look forward to the next in series!

    "Riordan's starting another one."

Rather than being Greek god based as one of his previous hit series, this one is all about Egypt. The Egyptian gods are alive and well, as is the " House of life," a reference to Egyptian religious Scholars and Magic users. like his last series it's aimed at tweens and a strong ya audience, but it was still fun.

    "Great Book and Great Narration"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Red Pyramid to be better than the print version?

I believe the narration is just as good as the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline is great. I almost prefer this series to the Percy Jackson series. I love hearing about all the Egyptian gods and goddesses.

What does Kevin R. Free and Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Both are really great in voice inflection. If I had any complaints it would be that it is very obvious that Katherine is not British and her accent leaves something to be desired. When she addresses a character with an accent that is not British, she is very well received.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would enjoy listening on a long road trip.

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait to start the next book!
