Critic reviews

"It's hard not to love a book dedicated to the Glee star's grandmother...Colfer gets off many good lines [and] the nifty ending ties the plot's multiple strands up while leaving room for further fairy tale adventures." ( Publishers Weekly)
"In The Land of Stories, Colfer showcases his talent for crafting fancifully imaginative plots and multidimensional characters." ( Los Angeles Times)
"Colfer - and actor most famous for playing a countertenor teenager on 'Glee' - is a wizard at voices. In 'Henny Penny,' he gives distinct, birdlike cadences to a duck, a goose, hen, rooster, and a turkey. His yawn from Goldilocks was convincing enough to make me yawn in the driver's seat." ( The New York Times Book Review)

Definite a Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales

What did you love best about The Land of Stories: A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales?

The small changes added to each story told. They kind of change the way one looks at the original stories, but in a good way.

What other book might you compare The Land of Stories: A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales to and why?

I would compared it to the Dr. Seuss's Your Favorite Seuss book I discovered one time in Barnes and Noble. It too is a collection of multiple classic stories by Dr. Seuss. From The Cat in the Hat to How the Grinch Stole Christmas and so much more. Books such as these are one of my favorite types of books because they contain several stories all in one book, which, to me, keeps down space from having to buy the other additional books.

Which character – as performed by Chris Colfer – was your favorite?

Really all of them because they were all funny in their own way.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but unfortunately this did not happen because life got in the way. LOL. It was more like two sittings.

Any additional comments?

Nope.

Perfect

I love the book.
It was just so good for people who had already read/listened to the land of stories series.
I have a shout out for Chris Colfer cause this was so good and it’s totally cool how it’s sort of like a prequel and a sequel.

Not for me!

One of the books that are better read than listened to for me. I realized two things about myself... a group of short tales has no beginning, middle or apparent end ( I couldn't finish this book) and I like modern fairytales far better than the classics... they're frightening!!
