Publisher's Summary

A classic story of friendship between man and beast. Saved from the jaws of the evil tiger Shere Khan, young Mowgli is adopted by a wolf pack and taught the law of the jungle by lovable old Baloo the bear and Bhageera the panther. The adventures of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the snake-fighting mongoose, little Toomai and the elephant's secret dance, and Kotick the white seal are all part of Mowgli's extraordinary journey with his animal friends.

A robust reading from Tony Robinson.

Chapters not in order

The book would of been great but the recording is out of order. After about 15 minutes the book start to jump around the book and becomes incoherent.

scrambled

I also found the book to jump randomly throughout the story. This will need to be fixed.

Non-linear narrative

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The reading and musical dramatization were excellent. I hadn't realized, though, that Kipling's narrative jumps back and forth in time. Although I managed to follow the story, it was terribly confusing for my four year old who listened to it with me. This isn't a flaw in the story, but it is something to take into account if you intend to listen to this with young children.

Not the complete book skips chapters and storyline

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I WISH it was the entire book - or at least the Mowgli stories in their entirety. The children LOVED the narration...but it skipped portions of the chapters and made the storyline jump around and caused confusion.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

We couldn't listen all the way through we couldn't keep up with the story and text.
