A peasant and a soldier protect a rich man's grave from the devil. In the end, their cleverness and bravery earn them piles of gold. Laura Paton has a knack for classic storytelling. Her warm voice carries us away into this fanciful old world. She has fun developing the characters' voices: the brave soldier, the conniving devil, and the kind peasant. Orchestral music bookmarks the beginning and end of the nine-minute piece. Little listeners will enjoy watching the underdogs win in this trickster tale.

Jacob and Wilhelm's first book of fairy tales, Children's and Household Tales, published in 1812, included 86 folktales and was an instant success.
