Publisher's Summary

The god Apollo, cast down to earth and trapped in the form of a gawky teenage boy as punishment, must set off on the second of his harrowing (and hilarious) trials. He and his companions seek the ancient oracles - restoring them is the only way for Apollo to reclaim his place on Mount Olympus - but this is easier said than done. Somewhere in the American Midwest is a haunted cave that may hold answers for Apollo in his quest to become a god again...if it doesn't kill him or drive him insane first.

Standing in Apollo's way is the second member of the evil Triumvirate - a Roman emperor whose love of bloodshed and spectacle makes even Nero look tame. To survive the encounter, Apollo will need the help of a now-mortal goddess, a bronze dragon, and some familiar demigod faces from Camp Half-Blood. With them by his side, can Apollo face down the greatest challenge of his 4,000 years of existence?

ok not that great

at least the narrator is better than Jesse Bernstein.
the street isn't that great but worth a listen.
it annoys me how political correct the books have become. these books are for kids, Apollo and other characters have sahte sex relationships. that ruined the story for me.

New Favorite Narrator

Rick Riordan has done it again ! Yes it's the same formula as his other books - people go on a quest and shenanigans happen, but it's very very fun.

Apollo is still as hilariously arrogant and endearing as in the previous book, though there has been quite a bit of character growth. As in - less whining about his mortal status and more caring about the others. His relationship with Meg is the highlight of the book, and the deep care they have for each other is apparent.

Robbie Daymond does a great performance as Apollo. It's a very lively performance and he really knows how to give a lot of personality to the various characters. I'll definitely be upset if he's not coming back for the next one !

Keeping up the standard

Ok, maybe it took me a couple of chapters to get into this one but then it just seemed to whiz along. Good characters, good lessons and a good story all In keeping with typical Rick Riordan fashion. Highly recommended.
