Publisher's summary

Before time as we know it began, gods and goddesses lived in the city of Asgard. Odin All Father crossed the Rainbow Bridge to walk among men in Midgard. Thor defended Asgard with his mighty hammer. Mischievous Loki was constantly getting into trouble with the other gods, and dragons and giants walked free. This collection of Norse sagas retold by author Padraic Colum gives us a sense of that magical time when the world was filled with powers and wonders we can hardly imagine.

Narration at its best!

This was an extremely entertaining listen. Norse mythology has always been a great love of mine. The author and the narrator did it justice. Ulf Bjorklund gave a stellar performance and his pronunciation was spot-on! No complaints from this happy listener.

Norse Mythology--good listen

Overall, this was just a fun romp through Norse Mythology. The stories are super old-timey, but that makes it all the more fun to listen to. The narrator really did a good job capturing the mood, he had the appropriate accent but it wasn't too thick. It felt like you were sitting down to listen to an old, Norse bedtime story.
A lot of the characters therein are familiar to people now, so I was interested to learn their back stories and this definitely did that for me.

a very good telling of the Norse Myths. I have been looking for classic tales and this book has it. by far the best book on Norse Mythology on Audible.

Fantastic

Traveling across the U.S., and decided to listen to this book. I have already listened twice, and could listen again (most likely will). Great job by the narrator, and great book by the author.

2nd best

If it weren't for Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology, I'm sure I would have liked this a lot more. Bjorklund's is good but once you've heard the best there's really no going back. Recommended for people who haven't yet heard the Norse myths. Not recommended for people who've already read/heard Gaiman's version.

Detailed history

I liked this telling very much. It goes into deeper nuances of norse mythology than Gaiman's.

good enough for a train ride

I wanted something I didn't have to pay too much attention to while on a four hour train ride and while this wasn't my favorite rendition of the myths it did the trick. It seemed to skip some details in the mythology but Ulf Bjorklund's voice was very calm & soothing.
