easy listening

The book and the narrator did a good job. It is a young readers book but it was a good escape for me to listen to on my way to and from work. The series is comfortable and I will listen to one in between heavier listening books.

One of the Better Ranger's Apprentice books

Where does The Battle for Skandia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The Ranger's Apprentice series, both the story and narration, are among my favorites of the books I have listened to with my children. And this is one of our favorites in the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Battle for Skandia?

The reunion of the main characters.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of the scenes with Halt are wonderful. He is a funny character and his relationships with the younger characters are perfect.

Any additional comments?

I'm always looking for books that are suitable to listen to with my 11 year old son (and sometimes his older brother) that I can tolerate or even enjoy. This series is just amazing in that regard. I have enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and the narrator as much as my son. For both of us, these books are our favorites to put on. I'll be sad when the series is over.

Great Youth Read

John Flannagan puts together a wonderful world of adventure with characters you care about and challenges that require unique strengths. Similar to Harry Potter only in that you get to watch the heros and heroines grow from children into adults to be proud of. I reccommend it for anyone.

So I may not be 12

I began listening to the Ranger’s Apprentice series when one of my kids read the first one for school. I have been hooked all the way through. This one is my favorite so far. I listened every time I had opportunity.

Book 4 and still failing to disappoint...

... So I suppose I'll keep reading! Er, listening. I loved that they gave the princess a tangible role that involved more than gazing doe-eyed at the 'heroes', but it still felt a bit like a consolation prize. Other than that, I enjoyed the Scandinavian/English comraderie and look forward to what the next book holds.

Inconsistent voice acting

Love this series and have read it through several times. My biggest contention with the audio book performance is the inconsistency in the voices of Will and Horace. Sometimes and seemingly at random, their voices jump from shrill to adolescent breaking and in the case of Horace there were instances in which he sounded years older than Will by virtue of how deep his voice could drop.

Amazing

This is an amazing book! I just wonder why the narrators voice kept changing. Still, I am stunned at how great this book is.
