Awesome Story

What made the experience of listening to Surprise Island the most enjoyable?

Joe's surprise and the cave kept us on the edge of our seats.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Surprise Island?

Catching lobsters was memorable because it would be fun to do the same.

What about Phyllis Newman’s performance did you like?

She used different voices for each character, and was easy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Benny was sweet when he kept saying how Joe was his best friend, and then also included his siblings and Watch as best friends, too.

Any additional comments?

A great story to listen to in the morning while eating breakfast.

Sweet story but dated

Feels very 1950's.... my son enjoyed but it was hard to listen to girls baking pies etc. wholesome-yes but story moves a little slowly and not that captivating.

Different Time, Thus No Stranger Danger

My child enjoyed this book, we use audio during traffic, however I cringed many times at how often the children welcome in an adult stranger, tell that adult all of their personal information and their family's personal information.

I suppose this was more acceptable during the period that these books were written, but it is something to be aware of before your child listens so you can explain the dangers, again.
