Publisher's summary

One of the great thinkers of all time, Thomas Jefferson helped shape America in its early years, and his ideas continue to inspire us today. His amazing contributions include not only writing the Declaration of Independence, but his actions as the United States' third President, as well as his influence as a scientist, inventor, farming pioneer, and educator. The engrossing life of this founding father is fully captured in this richly detailed biography, from Jefferson's childhood in a simple wooden farmhouse in Virginia through his careers in law, diplomacy, and politics, in addition to his marriage to his beloved Martha and the family tragedies they endured.

Jefferson was more interesting than this

I suspect this biography was written for teenagers, and it will satisfy their attention spans while getting the homework done. The reader does not get much more detail about Jefferson than I picked up in my junior high school American history class. Not bad, but Thomas J. deserves more attention, especially as to his rivalry with Hamilton, his political positions on issues of his day, and on slavery. All three subjects were all but glossed over.

No warning

This should have come with a warning that it was for children. I wish that I had listened to the sample, or more, that I was able to return it. This is the only Audiobook that I ever heard that I could not listen to for more than 5 minutes--and that took a lot.
