Rectifying Revisionist History ...for Kids

The strong point of this book is that it is a lesson in American history that gives a viewpoint that is not taught to our children any more. The Plymouth Colony first tried a socialistic work arrangement but had to resort to a reward system to motivate the people to do the necessary work. In these dark times when we are witnessing the European Socialist states implode under the weight of their unsustainable welfare yet still see the progressive creep toward the same failed system here on our shores.

As a work of fiction, this short book is clearly a piece is targeting young skulls full of mush. But as a history lesson it is very accessible for kids and it presents a message I want my kids to know.

Rush Limbaugh, well-known for his flowing speech when speaking unscripted off the cuff, here gives a strangely stilted reading of his own words. But there is a certain appeal to having the text read by the author.

Great way to teach history

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would and the reason why is simple this book will take you into history in a great fun way that will help teach kids and adults by taking them back to when history was happening. A fresh fun way to show us what history is all about.

Any additional comments?

it doesn't matter if you love or hate Rush with this book it's all about teaching History to kids and adults alike in a fun fresh way. A wise cracking Horse named liberty, a history teacher named Rush Revere and dressed for the part, and a classroom with a girl named freedom. I wished the story could have went on and on right now it was so fun.

Reviving history

Where does Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's top notch. A kid's book that's like a good ride through unknown and intriguing territory. Really two stories: one the real-life history of the Pilgrims exodus to America and the school kids fantasy of a time traveling teacher and horse.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims?

The contrast between the near starvation of the Pilgrims on arrival in America and the cornucopia of a 50s drive-in.

What does Rush Limbaugh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His seriousness, respect and humor underscore the story at appropriate times.

Great way of telling the history of Thanksgiving

Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, is a wonderful way of sharing the history of the pilgrims and the struggle that they went through. Rush Revere show a group of student what hardships the Pilgrims had to deal with on their quest of religious freedom; ending with the story of the first Thanksgiving.
This is a great way for children of all ages to learn just what the pilgrims had to live with. Rush Limbaugh does a great job in the narration of his book. This is a book that you will want to listen to over and over again.

Even Rush-Haters will like this book

Listened to this book with my 11-year-old daughter (at 1.5 speed) as she read along with the printed copy. Of all the books I've listened to with her, this one kept her interest piqued more the most. The narrative mixes fiction and non-fiction together quite nicely and is sprinkled with humor that will appeal to listeners of all ages. And Rush's narration is top-notch, even at 1.5 speed. I hope Rush follows through with plans to continue the series. I'd advise Rush-Haters to hold their collective noses and have a listen to this book. You'll be glad you did.

Toilet humor?

So, I listen to Rush and hear all these people call in and gush about how great these books are, so I decided to pick up the first in the series from Audible because it is read by Rush himself. I figured it would be the optimal experience since the author (who speaks for a living) narrated his own book.
I didn't get past this first few minutes. I love the idea of making history more accessible for my children, but toilet humor? come on, no thanks.

Rush reaches out to kids

Would you try another book from Rush Limbaugh and/or Rush Limbaugh?

I have books by both Rush and his brother David.

What other book might you compare Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims to and why?

I don't know that I would "compare" this book with another in the way I think the question suggests, but Liberty is certainly a hoot! Time travel and talking horses bring Narnia to mind for me.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

yes, but I caution -- this is a kid's story. Get some kids talking about this book - IMO.

Was Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims worth the listening time?

Yes, IMO this would be a great way to get the family around a book; winding down a Thanksgiving Day - making a memory and getting straight history to boot!
