Publisher's summary

Tommy and his sister Annika have a new neighbor, and her name is Pippi Longstocking. She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on the porch and a pet monkey named Mr. Nilsson. Whether Pippi's scrubbing her floors, doing arithmetic or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure.

A Classic Tale of the Strongest Girl in the World

Known for her bright red pigtails and her super human strenth, Pippi Longstocking is a beloved classic book enjoyed by children and adults alike. You won't believe what she does in her adventures

I especially liked the way Esther Benson narrated the story with giggles,. coughing, and other things used in the dialogue. The Listening Library version of Pippi Longstocking is a must-have for literature lovers.

One of the most beloved classic characters from Scandinavian children’s literature.

Pippi Longstocking has been one of my favorite literary characters even during my adulthood. Her super human strength and bright red pigtails are two things that make her so iconic. Of course, I have also read Pippi Goes on Board and Pippi in the South Seas, which I recommend you check out from your local library.
Believe it or not, Pippi has also evolved from books to stage and screen. She has been featured in several movies and on television—live-action and animated. A remarkable character, Pippi Longstocking is sure to be a delight with anyone young and old.

Hilarious, entertaining, enjoyable.

Oh my, this has been one of the most hilarious stories I have ever heard! Pippi is a ridiculous little nine-year-old who does some very peculiar things and is quite interesting. I’m sure anyone who reads this will agree that she has the most wild imagination and is one of the most enthusiastic people I’ve ever heard in an audiobook. Our whole family listens to this every day at breakfast and we just were dying with laughter! The way Pippi goes around her every day life is it’s so wild and funny that we will keep you entertained for hours and hours. Yes I definitely recommend this audiobook. Yours sincerely, pig widget

Still works for today's kids--even boys!

It's hard to find good audiobooks for kids 5-7 years old. Picture books don't work on audio, and most chapter books are still a little hard for them to follow. Pippi Longstocking was already a decades-old book when I read it as a child in the mid 1970's, but my six-year-old son seems to like it just fine. We listened to it in the car on a long family trip, and we all enjoyed it. Pippi's wacky adventures, super strength, defiance of social norms (she doesn't go to school!) and good heart (she protects the weak kids from the bullies) apparently have timeless appeal.

Lovely!

I loved these stories as a child and it has been so fun to listen to this with my granddaughter. This author knows children so well. When I move I’m going to name my next house Villa Villakula!

Great for road trips

My 6 kids listened to this over a road trip and enjoyed it. Especially my three older kids who are boy age 6, boy age 8 and girl age 10. Pippy is so much fun and though she is rambunctious and shocks everyone around her, she is a good person and never tries to hurt anybody. This was such a fun listen!
