Publisher's summary

From the moment Mary Poppins arrives at Number Seventeen Cherry-Tree Lane, everyday life at the Banks house is forever changed. This classic series tells the story of the world's most beloved nanny, who brings enchantment and excitement with her everywhere she goes.

Only the incomparable Mary Poppins can lead the Banks children on one marvelous adventure after another. Together they meet the Goose girl and the Swineherd, argue with talking cats on a distant planet, make the acquaintance of the folks who live under dandelions, and celebrate a birthday by dancing with their own shadows. And that's just for starters!

A great listen!

A wonderful and whimsical story. The imaginative qualities in each of these stories really make me feel like a kid again when my imagination wasn't so hindered by a need for things to always have an answer or be explained or reasonable.

I love it and I recommend this series to anyone who wants to get back in touch with their inner child!

Wonderous Storytelling

This book has Mary Poppins even closer to the ideal I remember. I suppose it could be because the children are improving, and while they have some, I'm not sure I could say it is as much as perhaps I could wish. I'm still trying to figure out how the whole story is about saving Mr. Banks as Ms Travers reportedly indicated it is. I can say that it is much more enjoyable now though and I am looking forward to reading more of it.

More stories from the famous nanny

Mary Poppins is an acquired taste. She is very superior, vain, and will make children question what they know to be real. She is also a person who dearly loves her charges. It's an odd combination. She is magical in many ways, no question. But would you want to deal with her as an adult, maybe not. Children will probably enjoy these stories and accept that Mary, as an adult, will not always tell them the absolute truth all the time. As an adult reading these, (to say that I have and see what the fuss was about), I found her more than a bit annoying.

This volume in the series is a series of vignettes without a specific beginning or end like the previous volumes. The only consistent points are Mary Poppins, The children, and that they all take place in the park on Cherry Tree Lane.

If you like the series, you will like this.
