Publisher's Summary

Another timeless story about Mary Poppins, the world's most exciting nanny, and her magical adventures with the Banks family.

From the moment Mary Poppins arrives at Number Seventeen Cherry-Tree Lane, everyday life at the Banks house is forever changed. Jane, Michael, and the twins have never had such a wonderful nanny, who brings enchantment and excitement everywhere she goes.

In Mary Poppins Opens the Door, Mary Poppins reappears just in time! According to her tape measure, Jane and Michael have grown "Worse and Worse" since she went away. But the children won't have time to be naughty with all that Mary has planned for them. A visit to Mr. Twigley's music box – filled attic, an encounter with the Marble Boy, and a ride on Miss Calico's enchanted candy canes are all part of an average day out with everyone's favorite nanny.

Another fun Series of stories

We love Mary Poppins stories, but not Mary Poppins. She seems a little without heart. Delightful fun stories, though and the children learn so much and expand their imaginations.

Mary Poppins returns with more stories

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If they liked the first two, sure. In and of itself, probably not.

Would you be willing to try another book from P. L. Travers? Why or why not?

I will listen to the remaining Mary Poppins stories just to say I did. But the character is so passive aggressive that it makes her somewhat unlike-able.

What about Rosalyn Landor’s performance did you like?

A commendable performance with clear delineation between characters.

Do you think Mary Poppins Opens the Door needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Honestly, it is written to give the impression that it was the finale of a trilogy. There is closure. Although I do know that more were later published.

Any additional comments?

If you like kindly, but insufferably superior nannies, then this is for you. Perhaps it is more of a British thing, perhaps it is just "of it's time". The fables that are incorporated in to the story are fine and quite sweet. It's just Mary that I find somewhat difficult to take in any large quantity.
