Original songs include "Your Momma Wears Old Tow Sack Drawers", "Cats are Stupid", and "Kicking My Dog Around".
Sometimes I think the book is pretty funny then other times I think it is so disrespectful that I'm glad I don't have young kids listening. Just as most books and movies are really only understood by adults, the same is with this book. The main character, Hank, has a great dislike for cats. He even goes so far as saying God made a mistake when He created cats. The listener needs to take these as folly and dismiss them or it will drag down the story.
Hank is pretty self important. I know a few humans like him.

I listen to hank with my kids ,and there was a reference to a Donkey being a Ignorant Jack ass. to harsh for my kids ,they may have not meant it harshly but my kids know them as donkeys.
Love it but I am confused why the audible jumps up so high after the 3rd book? Price goes from 2.99 to 9.99
Every HTC audiobook has the same ridiculous, loud, distracting music in the background. LOVE these books and narrators. HATE the background noise. Why?? Why ruin the stories with this garbage?
This book is a good book if you want to sleep. It is a relaxing book that makes you laugh It is a western so if you don't lime westerns dont read it I love westerns so this book is a great book for me.
What made the experience of listening to It's a Dog's Life the most enjoyable?
the clean family humor
Who was your favorite character and why?
Drover is always my favorite because he is such a cute coward
Have you listened to any of John R. Erickson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
yes, this one is just as good, I am always pleased with John R. Erickson's books.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
when Hank jumped in Slim's truck and Slim did not give him over to the dog catcher
What did you love best about It's a Dog's Life?
We spend a lot of time in the car. My kids love the Hank series and the crazy antics they get into. They will listen to these stories over and over again.
I love John Erickson's per trail of the story, but as a note to parents with small children, itdoes have a curse word in this story. It's the other word for donkey.
